Does anyone know why the server was down today until 13:00 GMT?
Was it an extended downtime or are the servers now not getting rebooted etc between their 11:00-12:00 GMT time period?

might it have something to do with we are now in BST and not GMT? (clocks went forward 1 hour).

Errr, downtime is always between 11:00 and 12:00 EvE time (True GMT).
In reality, for me as in in the UK currently on BST (British Summer Time), it's between 12:00 and 13:00.

Edited by: Jadice Dreamshifter on 31/03/2007 10:41:08 So in 1 year 11-12GMT will be like 13-14BSP or what?
The whole world has gone 1 hour ahead, except EVE ofc.
DT is moving more and more towards the peak time in that case.. or this will be until it changes back in the autumn?
I don't see why CCP wouldn't move this with the rest of the world, because they live on Earth not on the moon where GMT is an absolute value, it's affecting their schedule as well imo.

Jadice, first of all, not everybody on the planet observes daylight savings time. Secondly, different areas of the world switch to DST and back on different days. Third, GMT is the same no matter where you are. The UK is now in BST rather than GMT, but GMT still exists and is still the same time it was before daylight savings kicked in. Fourth, even though the UK is now on BST, peoples time zones are still RELATIVE to GMT, (ie EST is GMT-5 and EDT is GMT-4) making it easier for people to convert if Eve time remains GMT. Fifth, it would be a complete, unneccessary pain in the ass to switch Eve time from GMT to BST.

As far as I know all countries have already switched to summer time, so +1 hour, so EVE's DT has just moved up by one hour for the whole planet, i don't see the relevance of any of ur 5 points.

Edited by: Space Runt on 31/03/2007 12:30:29 as nonym mentioned, not everyone uses daylight savings.
and the UK runs on GMT in the winter in summer it runs on BST (british summer time) which is GMT +1 the time now for me is 13:30 (am in UK) so in GMT time it is 12:30.
GMT DOES NOT CHANGE..
edit. and yes when winter returns to the UK then the time will shift back to GMT

and Jadice, the fact Iceland does or doesn't observe daylight savings has nothing to do with it, yes CCP is an icelandic based company, however the servers are based in London. (last time i checked that was in england)

In that case wouldn't it be easier for the people taking care of the downtime if the DT was 1 hour earlier? their schedules are offset 1 hour as well by sticking to GMT time.
It's no use talking about it anymore, it's not such a big deal to be worth the time, I don't usually play EVE at that time anyway, just log on some days to switch a skill or check my sell orders, but that can be changed without problems. I'm sure there are people affected more by this than me though.
