What distribution do you use?
Do you have more of the Error Message? There should be some hint which file it is. |

Im on Debian, Those are the only error messages I get unless I can run it with something else that logs more. I tried LogLite that came with it im getting the same thing except instead of unterminated quote string its something about "(". I thought it was running the executable when trying to execute with sh ./evelauncher.sh so I tried with bash ./evelauncher.sh and it keeps returning that error about the cannot run binary file. |

I think you are using a 64 bit Debian and missing 32 bit binary support. I do not know debian, though, and can't tell you how to add it. Apparently there's a wine32 package on Debian, so you might want to try that one.
Edit:
https://wiki.debian.org/Wine
There they suggest the following:
Quote:On 64-bit systems you should enable a 32-bit architecture for multiarch. This is needed for running 32-bit Windows applications (many modern apps are still 32-bit), but also for large parts of the Windows subsystem itself. If in doubt, you do need it! You can identify your architecture with the following command: dpkg --print-architecture E.g. for amd64 (which most users have) you need i386. Enable it with the following command: sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 && apt update
You may also have to install wine anyway, as I do not know what comes with the Eve launcher in terms of libraries/dependencies:
sudo apt install wine
or, if you want a more recent version:
sudo apt install wine-development
No warranties given. I don't really know Debian, and if you break it, you can keep the pieces. :) |

Sizzlog, were you able to solve it?
I am not a big fan of Debian too. So my knowledge is limited. But I think Neuntausend has a good point.
Do you start from Command line or just from Desktop directly? Usually commandline does provide the full meassage.
I am missing the information which library is affected. That would help to corner the package and stuff. |

I too have a similar problem. I am running Debian 8.6 on an older laptop with an i386 processor. When I run the launcher script from the console, I get the following:
Quote: /home/jmitchell/evelauncher/./evelauncher: 1: /home/jmitchell/evelauncher/./evelauncher:ELF: not found /home/jmitchell/evelauncher/./evelauncher: 1: /home/jmitchell/evelauncher/./evelauncher: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string
I don't believe the actual distro matters in this instance, and I get the same response after installing wine as well. Does anyone have any ideas? |

I just checked the ELF of the Eve Launcher:
~/.bin/evelauncher $ file evelauncher evelauncher: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, BuildID[sha1]=ca5268b5b3d196021a119d33718cc6cd6df72f3e, not stripped
It appears to be a native 64bit binary. Snorlax had even confirmed that here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=6503894#post6503894
So, no native launcher for you if you are still using a 32bit linux for some reason. Try using the old all-wine way or switch to 64bit linux if possible. |
