A new Fitting Simulation arrived with EVE Online: Ascension on November 15.
This fitting simulator allows you to play around with ship fittings to your heart's content without the need to own the ship, modules, charges, drones or anything. The simulation is totally virtual, yet shows all important stats such as DPS, powergrid, CPU, defense boni and more. You can also simulate structure fits.

It's pretty damned cool on the whole.
As people have mentioned before it was deployed, it would be nice to be able to check DPS tanked vs. various rat or single-damage type or omni damage.... and while I do love the new drone section of the fitting window itself, optimal+tracking ranges (for sentries, especially) would be awesome to have. For guns you just mouseover the guns, but hell, would be nice to have that listed on the side of the fitting window with no mouseover needed as well, come to think of it. ;)
Congrats to everyone who worked on it, I know you guys had mentioned it like 1-2 years ago, so long time coming, but well worth waiting for! |

Was in the middle of writing up a post in the ascension general feedback thread.
Simulation window is a home run, sh!t seems legit af fam.
Couple of annoying things I've noticed so far:
1) When you click on an active module to turn it's cycle on, off or overheat you have to cycle powering the module on or off. There is already a cool little power button on the expanding menu to the inside, please take off the need to cycle through powering the module on or off.
2) When selecting drones there should be another checkbox to select all 5 drones. If your ship happens to have more than 5 drones and click the select all 5 drones it should blink the bandwidth like going over on CPU/PG does.
3) Is there anyway to close the manage drones window once you open it? Either an X on the window or clicking the 'Manage Drones' button should make it close, or both.
4) Right clicking a module should have the option to remove the module.
5) 'Set filter for slot' has no explanation and doesn't do anything as far as I can tell?
Not today spaghetti.

It shows when Karkur works on a feature. While there are still things to improve, the new fitting window is a major step forward in terms of usability and features.

Awesome awesome awesome.
Please can I make a feature request. Please could we have another filter button for the hulls and hardware that shows only hulls and modules available in station/system/region (like on the filters on the market window). That way it'd be so convenient to come up with an emergency fit when losing a ship on a fleet when you are stuck in the back end of nowhere. |

Good day, Please add one very important and useful method: Active pumping shield in the simulation shown in nominal values GÇïGÇïexcluding resists. For anyone not be difficult to split, say, 900 hit points shield 4 second cycle of work and receive 225 units of shield pump per second. But it does not reflect the real capacity of the tank shield, as taken into account not resist performance. There are performance indicators hit points in the fitting window of the ship. But the performance indicators of the tank shield, armor and structure - is not present. Make it a standard to start a program as Pyfa. Thank you. |

Tbh, I have not looked into the possibility of making a custom brain, but we might look into that later, if we feel we can add it without making everything overly complicated.

Thanks! I checked and other than range stats, only the combat drones have other drone-related stats. Getting them on the mining ones will help us see the effects or rigs and such. Something for the wish list on your next pass.

Ah yeah - that would really excite me! What I currently do is :
1) dock in my pod in a station with at least some things available 2) check for ships available and put together a ghost fitting based on a ship that I know is on the market 3) once I have a fit, click buy all and make a note of modules not available 4) substitute the unavailable modules in ghost fitting 5) repeat steps 3 and 4 until I am able to buy all - maybe checking the market manually as necessary 6) buy and fit the emergency replacement ship 7) continue roaming
Anything that might ease the pain of that process would be amazing - even if it is not using dynamic filters, say just a market filter at the point the button is clicked and maybe a refresh button would be amazing.
It's a proper job as it is but that would push it over the top for me. |

Initially I was really sceptical whether I'm going to use it over pyfa. Up to now I think I've easily invested 4-5 hours of my time playing around with fittings in the in-game tool and it is a very smooth experience. The filtering options by slot are a nice addition and filtering ammo/charges for a fitted module at a single click is simply amazing.
An oddity I've noticed is: If you simulate a T3D and you're also sitting in one switching modes in the simulation will switch modes on your actual ship, too.
Two things that would be very neat for future iterations would be the ability to simulate it with different skill levels and clones. So, simulate with skills of the following template Current skills
- Max omega skills
- Max alpha skills - either your own or a selection for each race
And further a body with the following effects:
Using different skill sets allows the use of the simulation tool on different characters to the same standards. I've been in the situation on alt characters where I wanted to fiddle with a fit while waiting on something/someone but wasn't able to because of a big difference in skills. The impact of implants and boosters is pretty much self-explanatory and I think the tool would benefit greatly from the possibility to 'equip a clone' as I feel that this is a very day-to-day occasion for many players and should still be included in the scope of this.

If the ship can mine, the mining amount ( cubic meters per minute) is given.
The tool tips do give the module stats. But it is inconvenient, giving an amount and a time. Also, its just for that module, not the entire ship. Thus, I need to do math to get the amount per minute for my ship. I'm playing the game on a computer, it seems it should be doing the math for me.
Also, the tool tips do not include the drones. Thus, I cannot see how much my Orca can mine.

Where is the rig calibration amount for my ship displayed?
In simulation mode, it allows me to install rigs which do not fit (over calibration limit.)
I preferred it when I could immediately see if a module fitted or not by hovering over it. Now I have to enter simulation mode and back again to see if it fits and then fit it. Or trial and error. Very tedious.

Thank you very much for this, great work, well done. Would it be possible for info panel to show "base" and "modified" stats? eg. I clicked show info on missiles loaded into cruise launchers and it only showed their base rate of fire. Not the rate of fire with my skills included. |
