First two days of the new NPC patch I got two haulers spawn, and ever since after that the miners spawn shortly after downtime and never spawn a hauler, even after 9-10 hours. Is it possible that the hauler is spawning and then disappearing again? Is it really that random? Is it supposed to take 9+ hours for a hauler to spawn? Most cases I saw were only 1-2 hours from what I've seen in videos. What am I doing wrong? |

My info is dated. I am not even aware of what new NPCs you are talking about, I haven't read patch notes in a while.
However here is my dated info on belt rat spawning mechanics:
On average about one out of every twenty ( 20:1 ) belt spawns is a special spawn. About half of those would be hauler spawns and around half faction spawns.
iirc special spawns do despawn after about 20 minutes maybe a half hour.
You can kick up the spawn rate in a system by being active in the belts. This includes: belt ratting, minning, or even just warping from belt to belt.
It seems to me that spawn rates are delayed by about an hour. So if you come across a system that has not been active and start patrolling the belts looking for spawns it will take about an hour for the rate to tick up.
Not sure if this helps or not but it's all I have at this point. |

As I was approaching a belt the last few days, only 2 miners were active and mining in that belt. A few minutes later a hauler warped in and was slowly approaching the miners. - And was gone not long after that. So yes, they are disappearing again after a while.

I don't know if the devs ever got around to fixing it. But there used to be a problem with rats that they would start slowboating away from the belt and eventually went off grid. They would never re-spawn because they were never destroyed, but after going off grid, they were effectively untouchable.
My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

If you go to deepari theres like 10 hzo retrievers and a hauler and theyre not even doing anything. Theyre just afk.
I was gonna try and kill them with a destroyer but i chickened out and i was afraid of something spawning in i wouldnt be able to handle. |
