Edited by: AirWalker on 05/04/2007 21:38:45 after a little while of complaining about not being able to use MWD's in deadspace while looting, me and a friend (Byron Rich) came up with the idea of a strictly looting/salvaging ship.
It would consist of its own type of skill set like mining barge separated from race
bonuses like 5% to salvage difficulty 5% to tractor beam range
Special Ability: Ability to use MWD's in deadspace
and maybe a t2 version that offers another 2 bonuses like 5% to tractor beam range 5% to cargo capacity
and it wouldn't be a strong ship, low shields low armor and no use in fighting npc's or players.

This is a decent idea. I'd love to see a ship specialized in salvaging. Alternatively, they could add 2-3 high slots to all industrials to make room for tractors and salvagers and increase max target locks from 2 to 4-6. |

About the MWD thing in deadspace...
Check this out.
A Salvaging ship does sound interesting though. I think they were talking about one for many of the mini professions, such as Hacking, Archeaolgy, and etc. One for Salvaging would be good too. |

the mini professions ship would be cool and maybe just tie it into that.....

id say the best choice would be an elite destroyer (since many people use them including my self). and set the skill tree off of the industrial skill set.
example.
destroyer 5 or industrial 5 science 5 industry 5 -salvage ship 1

I like the idea as well. As many people have pointed out, it's easier to just finish the mission and loot it with a (t2) destroyer, but this is not possible with complexes not spawned by agents.
I'd prefer the specs being something like the Osprey, but: -99.9% cpu for medium tractor beam 7 highslots enough pg to have an ab can lock 7 targets defenseless(no turrets/launchers and no drone bay)
t2 that has similar bonuses except it's based off the exequror stats: 8 highslots -99.9% cpu for large tractor beam enough pg to have an mwd in addition to an ab can lock 8 targets defenseless better hardening, but still nothing that can take more than a few stray hits. +1 warp strength?
maybe ORE could develop it?
