You guys do realize they largely use the words 'x-ray machine', 'MRI' etc interchangeably about most medical scanners these days, yes? Whatever they choose to use isn't going to matter much to the population, who'll just call it a 'scanner' anyway. |

Sure, but apparently people get all upset when a doctor says 'don't use the radioactive one, buy the cheaper one'.
Which, really, still boggling. |

Eh, it's a very large cluster. What's expensive and easier to maintain depends on a lot of factors and local assets. When you're trying to reduce costs, you look at what's available without having to ship it around a dozen systems, and if it works it works. If someone can't perfectly safely operate and maintain any of them they really need to get the hell out of that job. |

Then again, the Minmatar are still using nuclear fission generators. Still gives enough juice and is definitely alot cheaper than the cleaner fusion generators, which we must import. Not to mention the tech is well understood enough that there is no excuse to fail at operating that technology.

Alright, first, it's really easy to safely operate an X-ray machine. It has some of the most basic safety equipment in existence (or have the Gallente lost the ability to understand such complicated artifacts like the lead vest?) and producing a properly shielded room on a hab is as simple as switching out the wall panels.
Second, I actually just remembered we had an MRI. I wasn't allowed in it because the doctor wasn't sure if or how it would affect my arms and the accompanying shoulder sockets. |

You are using metal prosthetics then.

You are using metal prosthetics then. Less now than I used to, but yes. Plastics don't last in an industrial environment and the lighter composites were considered too expensive at the time. Plus our medic wasn't really... certified. He wasn't sure if the MRI would affect the circuitry or wetware the implants relied on so he chose to play it safe.
I got really used to the extra heft. You can imagine how odd it was waking up from the initial reanimation test with fully flesh arms after not having any for the better part of fifteen years. |

Additionally, why would you still use ionizing radiation for medical imaging? The more I read this, the more I worry about all of you. What else do you want? A needle and thread to sew up lacerations? How about some leeches, too? I have an excellent X-ray "imagining" device, and will gladly do free "imagining" to anyone who will decide to defend the Federation with a word or weapon. Imperial Navy provides me with top-grade green crystals.

You really need to update your soft-clone contract more often. Like seriously. last time I lost a clone outside a pod I had a 6 month memory gap and that was already enough of a pain in the arse to deal with. I had to spend the rest of the year just trying to figure out the who, what, when, where and how.

I'm afraid one of us has lost the other. I grew up with prosthetics. In my previous post I was referring to the test they give to all Capsuleers during flight school where they reanimate you for the first time. You don't get a personalized clone for that one, so it didn't have prosthetics like the ones I'm using currently.
I've actually only been an 'omega' class pilot for about a month now. I spent another month as an alpha clone prior to that, but all that was just putting around Hi-sec mining Veldplspar and Plagioclase. I did back up my soft clone the other day though, so no worriesuch about that. |

Oh. That. Completely forgot about that. I remember leaving that programme with more things added than subtracted. Head's full of chrome now. Seeing things that aren't there. You know, an actual UI right there without being jacked into anything.
