Hello,
Not certain if this is where to post this, but here it goes.
I'm doing the Heiress Part 3 and am supposed to mine 20 units of polygypsum at a location specified. So I fitted 2x Miner I to my ship, warped to the specific location in the mission information, but when I target the only asteroid in the area ( a red cloven asteroid ), it always says 'Invalid Target: Asteroid Only" when I try to activate my miners.
I only recently came back to try this game after not playing since 2009, and if this is a bug it doesn't leave a good impression with me for this game. But I'll hold judgement until I can get some answer. I searched google for this quest, the word 'polygypsum', mining, etc but found nothing concrete or specific to my problem.
Thank you. |

I *think* that the red cloven asteroid is a collidable object and not what you're supposed to mine. Make sure you have a mining overview pulled up and see if all the possible asteroids are ticked.
It looks like this thread discusses similar problems:

It says for part 3 - Quote:Mission type: Mining
Mine 20 units (320m3) of valueless ore and return to the agent. Note: If the asteroid does not appear on your overview, you can show Arkonor asteroids and it will appear.
2 frigate's spawn when the asteroid is depleted.
Probably need to make sure all asteroids are selected to show in your Overview.

Thanks for your replies. I subsequently figured that out. Maybe it was intended by design, but this seems like it would turn off a lot of players when they are first coming into the game in these early missions. Unless that was the intention of the game design, to filter out those who have low tolerance for frustration. It did, however, teach me (or re-teach me) about that fact that you can disable/enable the display of objects in the Overview.
Thanks again. |
