Peek-a-boom is a Stealth Bomber, a Hound, that I have had since my first deployment into null space many years ago. I have roamed all over Wicked Creek and the surrounding areas in that thing, found and tackled lone battleships or miners in that thing for the fleet to come kill, and even made a successful bomb run on a Goon gate camp, which resulted in many Lulz.
There were battleships about in Kinakka. I took Peek-a-boom out and began searching. There was a Hyperion in the Large FW site, but it scurried off before I could find it. Jimmy was running about in a Vindicator. There were plans forming to try and kill him, since he was flashy, and we didn't have to worry about gate guns, but he warped away. I was orbiting him, cloaked, for a good ten minutes too. *cue jaws music*
Someone called point in an Astero. No time to reship, so I warped in at 20. I pointed the Astero and began launching torpedoes. Expectedly, I was not doing much damage. Unexpectedly, He was tanking all of us there for a bit. I have to say I am really impressed with the tank capable on that little ship. I must get me one.
After about a minute, the Astero popped. It was faction fitted, and it dropped almost everything. The loot fairy loves us today.
Earlier roams had already chased away all the viable targets in system, and next door, so we degenerated to what we always do when it gets slow, and camped the Hi Sec gate into Kinakka.
An important lesson was learned here. When you target a friendly, for whatever reason, make sure to unlock them after. I had targeted our mascot battle venture and I can't remember the reason, but accidental activation of the Blap Bus (Svipul) resulted in our mascot being vaporized in one shot. Comms lost it, and was laughing for a good minute or two. I passed on some isk to replace the loss. I think that is first time I have ever killed a friendly.
After a lone Tristan saw its demise, I saw there were battleships about again, and re-shipped into Peek-a-boom. Shortly after this, a point was called on Jimmy at the Ominomnomnom gate. The fleet had engaged, so I warped in and started lobbing torpedoes at range.
Jimmy was in a Golem this time. Golems are missile boats. Crap.
He must have seen me land, and wanted revenge for the death of his Imperial Navy Slicer. I was immediately targeted, though I was the last one on the field. Once I saw the target painter I knew I was in trouble. I turned off the MWD, and initiated warp back to the Keepstar. One second before hitting warp, my bomber vaporized around me, and the pod warped instead.
I was sad. That bomber had been a faithful companion for years. But, my sadness was soon quashed when the Golem kill was announced. The kill mail revealed the Golem to be worth 1.844 Billion Isk. Again, the loot fairy was kind, and he dropped most of the faction gear. Today was a good money day.
At least I got the MWD back from my Stealth Bomber wreck.
After that we put Jimmy to temp blue to help kill some other targets, but they all got away. The gate camp resumed, and lots of laughs were had in Comms. I tested my Jaguar out with a corp mate and his Rapid Light Missiles. I told him to try and kill me, but he could not. I am going to have to take the Jaguar out some more so I can test it better, and find out what its full engagement range is, and learn what I can and cannot kill with it.
