I want to give the Caldari epic arc a shot; never done it before. I can't find many recent fits specific to this arc.
I have decided on the CNR. I would be most appreciative if we could _not_ digress into other ship alternatives.
My primary goal is safety and not losing the CNR during the high-sec combat missions. I am willing to sacrifice some DPS and hence mission completion times to get a decent margin of safety.
Once I have a reasonable safety margin, my secondary goals are to minimize bling and bump up DPS to "reasonable amounts".
I am generally inexperienced with designing my own fits, so I would appreciate advice on tweaking the following. (Questions below...)
Lows:
Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Damage Control II Missile Guidance Enhancer II
Mids: Large Shield Booster II Shield Boost Amplifier II <-- (*1) Mission-specific Hardener A Mission-specific Hardener B Republic Fleet Target Painter <-- (*2) Large Micro Jump Drive Sensor Booster II, Targeting Range Script <--(*5)
Highs: Cruise Missile Launcher II x 8 <-- (*3)
Rigs: Large Warhead Calefaction Catalyst I <-- (*4) Large Warhead Flare Catalyst I <-- (*4)
[1]: Assuming the rest of the fit is kept the same, is there a better use for this slot than the SBA? Should I drop in some kind of anti-ewar module? (I've heard jamming can be awful during this arc.)
[2]: I realize this is a bit of bling, but I needed it to nudge under CPU limitations, particularly CPU penalty caused by the rigs.
[3]: I will of course be using mission-specific damage, and furies where applicable
[4]: My missile support skills are maxed and missile implants are +5, so I figured I'd add to raw damage and hitting smaller targets. Change the rigs at all?
[5]: This allows me to target and kill things up to about 150km. That, combined with the MJD and LSB, should give me the margin of safety I'm looking for, shouldn't it?
Thanks for reading all! |

I've generally found that unless you're sporting a really blingy booster, 3x hardeners (2x mission specific and 1x invul) is better than 2x hardeners and an SBA. You you may lose some peak tank but you'll have a bigger shield buffer and free up some CPU.
That missile damage rig is pretty well wasted. If you don't need the rig slots for anything else, I'd go 2x rigors and a flare for application. T2 if you can afford it, T1 is fine. This may push you tighter on CPU so you may need to make some changes elsewhere, but this will help you kill off smaller targets much faster.
Good luck.

You will need more than one ship to effectively run the Caldari epic arc since it has a wide variety of tasks from simple hauling where the only dangers you will face are the gankers to the need for probes and scanning skills. Here is a link that will help you plan your journey. Caldari Epic Arc
For the combat side I tend to agree with Bronson's comments, and to them I would only add that you may want to consider changing the MJD for a different prop mod based on the actual mission you are running. |

Acknowledged, and thanks! I'm going to both replace the SBA, and then fiddle with the CPU / mods so that I can get all rig slots used. (Even with launcher rigging V, those rig CPU penalties really start to stack!)
I think I can get some extra CPU dropping some t2 mods to meta...
