Hello all!
I have a bit of a situation that I am not sure how the EVE GM's will react to.
I have played EVE off and on through out my life since I was 16 (almost 29 now). Unfortunately there are times in my life where I step away from video games because I just don't have time. When I was 16 I thought it was a great idea to take on my boyfriends last name in game, so in game we where Mr. and Ms. Packer... go figure years latter we got married so no problem! Well... years later we got divorced! LoL.... Now I have been divorced from him for over 5 years now and before coming back to playing these characters I didn't mind because it was just a name w/e right? But now I have been with my current boyfriend for 2 years now and we will be getting married after I finish school, I was going to reactivate my accounts, but hesitate because their is no pay for character rename... I have 3 accounts with the name packer every where and it feels awkward to play and than have him look over my shoulder and see my first name and than my x's last name... Would a GM say no to this?? Even if I supplied was willing to attach the divorce papers?? |

Just be thankful you didn't get his name tattooed. That would be a real bummer now.
Don't know what the GMs will do tbh, but you will never get a yes if you don't ask.

Try a ticket.
And Id recommend you dont make the same mistake twice by choosing married name again, just in case.
Unfortunately your previous names may be eternalized on the EVE monument.
Also, you might want to re-incoroporate your corp under a different name, since its still Packer.

Just submit a support ticket and maybe hit up CCP Falcon.
You might get a positive response, you might not. CCP generally won't undo consequences of your in-game actions but they've been known to be quite decent about situations where real-life gets in the way. |

I can understand where you are coming from on this. I once had a character with my Ex-wifes name too, after a messy divorce I just biomassed it, 60m sp char ( i think ). some may say it was stupid thing to do, could have sold it or tried for a name change but I biomassed for closure.
If that isnt the route you want to take (these days extract, biomass then make new char) then a petition for a name change may be the way to go, even if they just rename to minny amarr gallente caldari cit ########### it may be enough to remove the constant reminder for you. |

I was in a similar situation, they don't do name changes. I ended up having to extract and biomass like others have suggested. its been a little bit painful since I had to sell a lot of the extracted SP just to afford the extractors to keep pulling stuff out. went from 50m sp down to just under 17m by the time the process was done. (I did use some of the sp to get a couple of alts set up though, probably would have been closer to 25m if I had put them all into this character)
its a pain in the ass, and the sp loss does hurt a bit. but its the best option available. |

I'm just thinking of the ironic situation where she gets a successful name change, changes the last name to her current boyfriend, marries and divorces again. "CCP I'm not good with this can you help again -_-?"
in all serousness, You won't know what CCP'll do until you've tried it so good luck with the petition! |

This could be exploited.
Safer, more expensive solution, would be to extract sp, biomass, create new char, as others have suggested. |

I'm sorry OP, but this was a funny read . With that said, I hope you get it sorted. Not my call to make obviously, but this may qualify as a special case warranting a change. At least if it were up to me, I'd do it. Good luck with your request and hope it works out for you. But wow, I'm still laughing... |

But in this case, a decision that was made over 10 years ago can and will have negative real life consequences. Idealistically it shouldn't matter and no one should care. But realistically, c'mon let's be honest; it's an uncomfortable and awkward situation. |

Make new characters with names you like. Extract skills from Packers, inject skills into new characters. Sell Packers to skill farmers (last I saw people were still paying transfer + a bit for 5M SP chars that can be turned into injector farms). |

Up to CCP.
But Im against it. There are any number of people that created characters with names they regret, and there is no accounting how many players might be aggrieved by OP on those characters over the years.
If you are going to marry this man, should he not accept you as you are, including your history?
Its up to you what you do with your Packer named accounts and Corps. Not up to CCP. As others have said, theyve gone so far as to biomass them, or extract SP at a loss and expense.
Would be kind of unfair for you to change your ingame character names compared to them.
Our characters in EVE exist in a virtual space and environment separate from us as IRL individuals. You may have gotten divorced, but your characters had nothing to do with it.

Extract enough skill points to do what you want to do in EVE. Sell Amber on the bazaar. Pretend that his new wife's name is also Amber. And kill her every time you see her. Then do that with all other Packers (His new family.) |

The characters have a name with which they where created, and are identified by in EVE. If your name changes, it doesn't mean theirs does.
Well then, where is the marriage ability so you can marry someone in-game and change your name? ;) |

I had a similar situation. I have been in love with Cajun most of my life. It wasn't until recently that I had discovered my new love in Waffles with their sweet and savory delights.
I would like to know if a GM would be ok of changing my name from Cajun Waffles to Waffle Syrup.

You can make a male alt and name him something like "Mr. Packer", and then consider all your current characters his in-game wives. This can also be a good keepsake (that's the closest word I find in my dictionary) of your former boyfriend if you split up on good terms. If you hate Packer that much, sell all the Packers (you may get more by selling the character as a whole than selling a 5-mil SP character and the injectors) and gank them everytime you see them agian |

I'm really sorry for sounding judgemental, but ...
If I'm reading the data right, you re-started (or rejoined) a Corp called "Packer Incorporated" back in April 2016, and you say you have been going out with your current boyfriend - not called Packer - 2 years?
If I am reading it right - maybe I'm not - it means you actively made the decision to use that surname again in a Corp _recently_ and then you are actively coming into the forums saying "that surname is now a mistake and want it changed", you still have not even bothered to make a new Corp and drop that surname.
I'm confused here.
I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.
