In the display on the right the ship that is scramming you will have bars that are flashing orange around it. It is pretty clear.

When 8 carriers pop in to join your battle on either side, and all of their fighters are deployed, you'll see lag like you've only imagined.
Off-topic, tho. FIX THE SCRAMBLING, PLEASE.
I love how saying "Yes, I would also like to see this fixed" is considered off-topic or unhelpful by the moderator.
/signed means "I agree, please fix this." That is MEANINGFUL DIALOG.

Edited by: Kyoi on 10/04/2007 16:03:55 Something like this would be good :
zomghostile is the name of the hostile I just edited the name out, the number 1 is the number of points the hostile has on you over the scrambler icon.
As for the person argueing you can see the line, yeh I had the time too when I was mission running however while pvping with the lag etc and game effects off you need to be able to prioritise targets quickly if you are attempting to run.

To the OP:
I don't know how long you've actually played, but we've been *****ing about other players' EW effects on your ships since the beginning. The best idea has always been an array of icons indicating what's being done to your ship with the ability to click on said icon and lock the source. Simple. Effective.
Never been addressed, really, and probably never going to happen. If you want to make small to medium engagements more fun, this is something that HAS to be addressed.

Edited by: MrJordanIOI on 11/04/2007 08:55:54 Hello
I am the person who originally created the thread named PLEASE-can we get some indicator when the own ship is being SCRAMBLED?.
That was on 2005.08.18 11:45:00.
So far there has been one tiny Dev response to it so I m wondering if there is an acceptable way to draw more attention.
Most veteran players are right - You *can* learn to deal with the shortcomings of this game and you can simply prepare for being scrambled.
The thing is - many new players - especially those doing their first lvl3 missions can not afford to have those very expensive lessons tought to them.
Seriously - I can imagine that a 2 month old player losing their battleship due to being scrambled would rather suspect a bug than assume he didnt notice that little message scroll across the screen.
As we all know - losing your first battleship hurts and gets some people to quit even. At least if they did not even get a chance finding out what they did wrong. Eve is a harsh mistress, but it usually tells you where you screwed up as well.
Eve also is a game that gives you a feeling you are inside a grown up "Elite" game and so we all dream of improvements that make it even greater.
The speed bar turning red as your warp cores go offline would be the best and probably easiest way to code a warp indication feature in. I am confident that there are even cooler ways to accomplish a notification though. The developers of this game have surprised me more than once with their resourcefulness.
The bottomline remains - how can you get the need for this small feature noticed ? Please lets try to be constructive and discuss on that.

A small indicator on the HUD would be nice but please dont add anymore WoW type effects to the ships such as the sensor booster one.

how abotu the overview flashing a different color on the enemy. Like when they lock u they have the flashing yellow box and then the solid white when u have locked them, have the box or entire line turn blue/pink/black/ rainbow when they using any E/W.
most the time tho i always pop frigs first in missions (tech II lite drones), for one it reduces the lag no end and second its mainly the frigs that scrmable, it is nasty tho when u pop all the frigs only to find summat else scrambling u. i dont bother with big angel missions these days cos i went in one and practically every ship was scrambling me.

I think the pilot should be notified once his ******* warp core is destabilized. A skull inside of the speedbar is sufficient.

Don't know about you but in PvP I just assume I'm scrambled and fight to the death. Makes it more fun if your fully concentrating on the fight and increases your survival chances rather than worrying about whether you'll get away or not. Depends on the situation. I've been in many small to medium engagements in an Arazu. It's VERY important to know if you've been locked (which the overview tells you) so you can cloak and get away if things go hinky.
This would apply across the board. Depending on what happens in a fight, you need to be able to pick your next target quickly and/or un-ass the situation if it starts turning against you. In that case, you have to get clear of the scrams first.

we don't need another tiny indicator we need a client-side adjusted audio alert. something configurable for the player that acts as an EW alert and that it is seperate from music and sound audio while being adjustable...you know, when a real life battleship goes into red alert / battlestations that classic red alert siren sounds.

First, Eve audio is, in a word, lame. Just look at the control panel for audio and compare that to any contemporary game. Second, most hardcore Eve'rs will tell you that they play the game with audio completely off, especially in combat situations. Audio in Eve has the curious (AND UNFIXED AFTER YEARS) side-effect of producing frame rate problems.

Not a bad idea, but Aura's voice telling you that "you cannot warp because you are warp scrambled" is a definite hint for me, lol.
The EWar indicator on the hud is something I'd liek to see, though. ---------------------------------------- * * * \_/ * * * Space cup. |

as a 6 year veteran of the united states navy i can call bull**** on this one. the only sound on a real warship first of all is not called red alert. its called general quarters and its announced with a bosuns whistle and a person informing you that "The ship is now at general quarters stand to at your battlestations and man all damage control stations, Repeat General quarters general quarters." methinks someone watches too much star trek.

Perhaps add a column(s) to the Overview with colored icons denoting 1 or more EW effect. -------------------------------------------- Rules of engagement: 1) You win. 2) No you can't have a cookie.

Gonna have to agree here. EvE does a lot of things right but their interface, and especially their single, way too rapidly scrolling, combat text display is essentially useless for any kind of information gathering.

That only comes into effect when it's basically too late - you've already started to warp. I don't care what the effect looks like, only that it's a) obvious that you're not leaving just yet, and b) it's obvious who's doing it. A 'lock the person scrambling me' button would also be very cool. (And ECMing, and damping and nosing or whatever)

Originally by: Mortuus A lot of people turn off their effects, so they can't see it, and they turn their messages off so they don't get a message.
Their fault.
Right, because a message for every scrambler that activates against any ship on the grid, plus a message for every weapon that you fire and that is fired at you isn't spamming the damage messages.
