Just a thought....
Most things you see in EVE are built by players or their corporations, why not allow players to build stargates from one system to another and re-coupe costs by charging a small toll for every player to jump through (50isk or something). Inside empire space it would require some kind of planning permission from CCP so they can control the pathways (in and out of Jita for example). Outside empire I would allow the universe to evolve in a manner that represents the needs of the population, not to mention providing a constantly adapting strategic field of play.
...i'd be the first to start building the Jita ring-road! ___________________

I have seen this idea before on a forum here.
The thing is CCP is now way too behind in everything that giving them new ideas is just not possible anymore.
So many things should have been done by now and so many things need to be done. It is just impossible.
Nonetheless, I love that idea.

well another idea.....
Why not have the stargates added to the invetory of alliance held space....
Also have alliance owned sentry guns you can put at the gates...with mild versions of web, damp stuff set a maximum limit of alliance modules at the gates and let the alliance sort out what to have there (12-15 modules MAX)
That way they can set a tax for using the stargate, you aint paying sentrys open fires, you are not blue to guns, they shoot......then remove the POS spamming stuff...add this instead....
You want to hold a system, you need to have controll over the stargates...not how many POS you can set up...
Let the gates be the factor for claiming not the POS spam...maby a small combo..
1 System POS(assigned to be primary for the alliance) and ownership of the gates and you claim it.....loose 1 of these you are fighting for your home.....
NO MORE POS SPAMMING

No. Every system would end up with 12+ escape routes.

Edited by: Haffrage on 10/04/2007 11:29:47 Well, I've always liked the idea, but they would be a pos structure. It's actually an idea in the making here.
Quote: Tactical and Strategic Starbase Structures
A range of new Starbase structured designed to grease the wheels of your war machine. Twinned Jump Arrays (similar to a Jump Bridge, and used for rapid redeployment of strategic assets of the ôpew pewö variety), Scanning Arrays (gives you a better picture of whatÆs going in the system), Cynosural Generators (allows you to rapidly recall your capitals to certain systems without needing a mobile generator at the destination) and Cynosural Jammers (to suppress the formation of cynosural fields within certain volumes) may all be making an appearance.
But I can't really figure out if twinned means two poses connected or not. -----

Well, I can appreciate that would be a real shame for all the gate-campers in EVE, but look on the bright side, you'd have more choice!
I'm sure that some kind of limitation could be implemented to prevent the number of stargates growing out of control, probably best to start with a huge ISK value attached to each gate. ___________________

one in the system to jump from, one in the system you jump trough.. and back ofc.. like normal stargates, that requires 2 gates.. so twinned...
but i like that CYNOGENERATOR IDEA =D \o/

There already is a limitation that so many gates can even be open at the same time should make you feel lucky !

I wouldn't mind the idea of twinned POS arrays, on a couple of conditions: 1) They require system sovereignty, 2) They burn a mother load of fuel while they're online, and 3) They take about 12 hours to online.
That way they can't be used by every bugger who wants safe passage through a system, they become another advantage of being a space-claimer rather than a faceless lurker, they become a major logistical commitment to run (keeping their numbers in check) and can't just be onlined at the drop of a hat whenever someone needs a quick exit, and offlined the rest of the time. --------
