Is there any particular reason why the Market isn't populated with all the faction mods in the game? or is it just a matter of one of those features that is just put off?
One of Eve's biggest plus points is its great Market, I hope one day it will include all the items that exist.

What I'd like to know is why there are items that can neither be put on the market nor into contracts.

Enter Black Market skill, make them sellable only in a select few stations in low and no sec systems which has a black market bazaar, to the select few people who has the skill trained high enough to find it and actually gain entry. If anything that would get people out there.

Originally it was the intention to make any faction / officer item only available trough escrow (now known as contract) and have regular items abailable trough market.
Not sure if the faction items will ever be put on the market even though faction ammo has been. It would indeed be nice to have everything on the market but it sounds there is a reason for it not to be (force items into contracts and thuss more competative means for first positions, auctions etc).
About the missing items that cannot be contracted nor sold trough market i think those could be best filled under a bug petition.

obviously there are two issues here,
1) some items not being on anything, this is surely a bug
2) other items, faction, deadspace, officer not being on the markets
The second is just frustrating more than anything, i would like to go to a market hub, look for something i want and buy it. Currently i have to search regional contracts, check to make sure im not being scammed and then buy. I've always prefered the market to escrow and although the new contracts are great, i still prefer the market :D

yeah would be damn nice. So you have somehow an idea what to charge/pay and you could actually trade with this stuff. Contracts are just annoying for this.
The only reasons for contracts I see are:
- scam/being scammed - courier - trading fitted ships - trading stuff to specific persons only
but ccp implemented a new feature and now wants that people use it...

Edited by: Del Narveux on 10/04/2007 22:04:36 Personally I prefer it that faction gear isnt on the market, its supposed to be rare and the market would make it get Walmarted just like everything else.
edit: everything ingame does need to be contractable though, including all that cosmos stuff _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

I prefer the market as well. Especially for selling. I usually have no idea what anything is worth, and searching contracts is frustrating. I'd like to just see a list of items, sort them by price, and sell my item appropriately. With Faction items not listed, this is very difficult to do.

Be great if we can sell faction gear on the market - would make life sooooo much easier, plus it would solve the age-old problem of Jita spammers - people constantly spamming local in order to advertise their contracts, so they leave alts in Jita constantly copy-pasting their contract links.
Items considered contraband is one thing, COSMOS items are another, but IMHO letting us buy/sell faction ammo (which is great) and not other faction items seems like a big contradiction. ☼☼☼ Life's a *****, then you get podded ☼☼☼

Completely agree - Everything except contraband should be able to use the market.
The only thing I can think against it is that sorting through EVERY item in the game in the market would be tiresome, not to mention the extra database system calls needed every time someone opens the market. It can be slow to load now, but the performance would probably degrade even further with more stuff to dredge out the database.
As for contracts...so far they have been a real disappointment for me. I had high hopes of contracts being of the method for formal agreements between corporations or individuals. They are basically a prettier escrow system without the functionality originally desired/advertised. I wanteded a formalised system of contracts to deal with the following examples: i) Mining corp A will supply 100 Mil Trit per month to Manufacturing corp B for the cost of X ISK per month, with the option of making this contract and the parties satisfaction/feedback public knowledge if agreed to.
ii) Corp C will patrol alliance space (systems 1-5) protecting miners from corp A.
iii) Bounty Hunter 'Bobafet' is tasked with retrieving the frozen corpse of 'Han Solo' within a week for 'Jabba the Hut' for X Million ISK.
Completed contracts could then be rated showing how highly all parties performed in the deals, and if the contract is agreed as public - it is a real (and Obvious) way of gaining reputation. It also would give more colour to the player corporations and individuals (imagine the REAL Bounty Hunter possibilities! It'd be a REAL method of gaining reputation/notoriety).
Anyway - I understand this can be done in a limited way with Freeform contracts, but the most important part I believe, which is a contract feedback AND the possibility of making this public is the vital part missing.
Yeesh - what a waffle...Anyway... /Signed Add Faction Loot to the open Market

speaking of faction ammo sorry to borrow your threat but a quick question.
Why are there no faction missiles?

Why are there no faction missiles?
For the same reason why we don't have any faction drones.
The day they bring back the original Hell Hound drone you missile lovers can get some faction ammo as well.

woot player created missions, would be fun having bounty hunters, but its too easy to scam it, by getting some one to pod you and sharing the bounty.
The contracts would be better like you describe, and place all faction items on the market.
The only good thing about faction items on contract, is the fact not everyone knows the true value of an item. You could get something cheap, or sell somthing over priced :) __________________________

I do understand that adding all these extra items to the market will require extra work on ccp's side. But ccp is a amazing company that has created such a fantastic game, i'm sure adding these extra items is well within its reach.
And as for the technical side, im sure these things would scale pretty well, ccp have obviously designed these aspects of the game to be added to and scaleable.
I have no idea how many different items there are on the market now, but surely these last few can't count for more than a few %?

Then don't train them. You rely on someone else to get you these modules, multiplayer option you know, you do this, let someone else do that.
Skills and diversity rule the way.

Adding faction ammo to the market has had an annoying consquence - if you want to stock up on normal ammo, the search window gets cluttered up with dozens of different sorts of faction ammo. For some modules, there are dozens of faction/officer/deadspace/storyline/cosmos variations, which most people aren't interested in for most of the time. We really need a 'show/hide faction items' tickbox if everything in the game is going to be searchable on the market. ------ Top speed calculation spreadsheet - updated for the recent speed nerf Army of doom headcount: 26,045 |

faction and dead space loot is fine with it being only in escrow. remember that you can check any escrow market in any region, from anywhere in the game and this is a huge plus...you can't do that with normal market items. and also there is less tax on escrow than market i believe and these faction and dead space fittings are sure as hell pricey.
