Is there any way I can find out who I traded with in game? I have looked at my logs and I can't see it logged anywhere. I traded a guy in fleet a ship in a rush and I am not sure who it is. Newb mistake, I know. |

You should NEVER trade in person...always trade by private contract. If somebody tells you their contracts are 'broken' or somesuch walk away. If you've lost isk then it's gone...take the hit and move on. How much was it btw?

The info you are looking for is in your wallet journal. Not in transactions, in the journal.
You can sort by type of time. It is listed as "player trading" under the type column.
It shows whom you traded with but NOT what was traded. |

Is direct trade a reasonable way to get around transaction fees? Is it possible to spoof it? I'm not talking about buying a Raven named Caldari Navy Raven or whatever, but things that are actually in the window not getting passed over. |

I could put the real RSI in. You put your 5T isk and hit accept. I swap for a regular raven and hit accept. Spoofed

I dunno, last I was told you can not just swap an item after an accept. What you do as a buyer is, before accepting, move the trade window to the side of your screen so that you are certain that a new trade window is not opening with a less valuable item. Others will have to confirm as I don't do these kind of trades myself.
The *seller* can perhaps easier be scammed, because amounts of ISK can under some circumstances be changed.

Private contracts cost a total of 10000 ISK in fees. They are much more secure in that what is listed is what you get (although what is listed might not match the seller's verbal assurances)
Public contracts, i.e. ones where anyone can buy the item, cost 1% + 10000 ISK to a maximum of about 20 million ISK.

If you swap for a regular raven after the other party has accepted, it'll cause their accept state to be automatically removed, so they'll have to agree to the trade again. The only way this would work is if they click Accept a second time without rechecking the items in the window, which is nothing short of stupid.
The real reason direct trades are dangerous is because your trading partner could alter the contents of their window fractions of a second before you click Accept, making you accidentally agree to an unfavorable trade, but they'd have to be either clairvoyant or extremely lucky to get their timing right. With the existence of contracts, this is an unnecessary risk, even if an unlikely one, hence the common recommendation to use an item exchange contract instead. |

Hmmm must have changed it then. That's what I was told way back in my early days. |
