It looks like siphons are visible in DScan, with combat scanners, and in the overview. They also obviously appear on grid. What is the purpose of being so detectable. Apparently they are also detectable via the API, and at one time there was actually a notification when someone dropped one on a POS.
It seems to me that they are essentially useless UNLESS the POS owner is completely asleep at the switch.
Why would it be a bad idea to make them "auto-cloaky" ... When you drop them and get away far enough the cloak themselves after say a minute. If ANYONE / ANYTHING decloaks them they remain decloaked for one minute after that thing departs and then re-cloak.
Why not make it just a tiny bit harder for the POS owner. He apparently gets a message when you drop it. He can see it on DScan, Overview, and it can be located with Combat Scanners. These make it too easy. The device becomes essentially useless. Let it be cloaky and suddenly it becomes an interesting game dynamic. POS owner can still get the notification but now he has to go find the damn thing in stead of just looking out the window.

What would be the point of fighting for a moon then? When the first guy to drop a cloaked syphon would get all the loot. You could drop 20 of them.....
Cloaked syphons are a horrible idea. |

So let me get this straight..
your upset because your ability to steal moon goo from somone running an operation isn't easy enough?
I'll give you +1 just for thinking so.
This should not be the way you describe,
it works as it should.
if the person is not paying attention to their goo then i will take it, if they are paying attention, then they mostly deserve to keep it.
Then i will be back with my friends to end that idea.
Ya.
