i played this game before going f2p on and off around half a year. could not enjoy it too much as i never understood it fully.
want to give it another try now but with the alpha account (f2p) restrictions i cant use most of my skills like flying battleships and whatnot.
what could i possibly do in order to relearn and most importantly enjoy the game ? |

26m SP you say? Here's what you should do.
Get a couple of Skill Extractors (if you have assets to liquidate, do so) Extract skills that you have no use for (I suggest Mining or Space Command skills from outside your Alpha skillset) Sell the Skill Injectors Buy a PLEX Use Plex to become Omega Do whatever the flip you want
It's not our job to tell you how to enjoy the game though. If anything, they will suggest you to join a newbie corp like Pandemic Horde and become a braindead F1 pusher.
My advice? Go your own way. Welp ships, mine your eyes out, shoot red triangles or fight in Lowsec and Nullsec. Go see the EVE Gate, live in Providence, join a renter alliance and graze rats, buy expensive SKINS and Clothes for your Space Barbie needs.
But for the love of Bob just have fun! |

Probably some of the best advice I have seen yet as it relates to the Alpha "Lamentation" crowd. F2p is a gross misnomer. Nothing is free! Never has been, never will be.
Civil discourse is uniquely human. After all, when is the last time a pride of lions and a herd of water buffalo negotiated SOV over a watering hole? Never.
Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

An alternative to this plan. If your main issue is not really knowing what you are doing.
Buy extractor. Extract and sell some skills you done need or can't use anymore. Use isk to buy ships for whatever it is you want to do. Fit as best as you can. Go and whelp those ships until you learn what to do. Go omega. |

That assumes he has a valid Alpha skill set to welp ships with, that his racial skills are conductive with how he wants to play and that he even wants to wait the three months time needed to develop said skill set if he doesn't have it already.
Playing as an Omega like I suggested is a zero sum game. With optimal training, he can fill 3 Injectors in 30 days. With proper marketing, and minimal ISK making, he can make more than enough to buy next month's Injector and a PLEX.
If he plays smart, he can develop his Alpha skill set while cutting the fat out of his 26mil SP by specializing in the activities he finds enjoyable. And that goes beyond just welping ships. |

You're not sure what to do and only have access to a limited set of (cheap) gear? Take the opportunity to join a newbie PvP corp (eg Brave, RvB, Horde etc) and just have some fun. You may find yourself staying there, even once you become Omega again. |

Buy a PLEX or an Omega subscription. Don't listen to the bozos who say to use a Skill Extractor, they just want the resulting skill injectors so they can rush skills and not have to wait like the poor scrubs most people are. To the guys who say Alpha clones are worthless, they are not, and in fact, you should hang on to your money until you cannot go any farther as an Alpha. Then get Omega and rush towards larger-scale equipment for what you enjoy (Mining with buddies is my thing) and increase your income as much as you can. |

Alpha's are a waste of time. If you want to play, then pay.
In order to enjoy the game...that's your call. Try one thing, don't like it, try something else. You'll get frustrated, you'll die. But don't quit...
The fact that you are back is a good sign. Talk to people in game...ask for help...ask to tag along on a roam...
Get your first kill...you'll never want to quit again.

The only bozo here is the miner in a tin foil hat thinking a returning player has the disposable income to commit 19Gé¼ monthly on a game he is not even sure how to play enjoyably, and then deliberately ignores the preference returning players have for their Omega-locked ships thinking that it all boils down to Mining Barges and Exhumers.
If you make ISK your priority in EVE you might as well go get a desk job. It pays better. |

If you are not against doing PVP, and want to remain alpha, have you thought about tryingout faction warfare? It is one of the few places in Eve where alphaes are really wanted, and can make a huge impact.
In the latest battles between Caldari militia (Calmil) and Gallente miltia (Galmil) for instance that lead to the fall of a number of Galmils homestations(Vlillirer for example), It has been indicated that Calmils ability to better integrate alpha accounts, has been one of many contributing factors to the victory.
So in short: Find an alpha friendly FW corp(Do some reasearch about who has good reputation, who has alpha clone doctrines?, Do they do fleet where alphas are allowed? who gives out free alpha ships? etc.), and they will help maximize you alpha clone potential. This will lead to you feeling usefull and with that enjoyment is more likely to come.

This is a very complicated plan. Buying PLEX with money is the most inefficient subscription. Paying with is even more complicated and self crippling. If you want to play the game and don't want to be restricted to Alpha skills, simply buy a one month subscription.
Most of the time I go to the movies I don't know if I will enjoy the next hours. Still I fork out more money than the few bucks required for a one month subscription. |

^ That's pretty much all he ever says. He's butt-hurt because he sucks, and blames it on Alpha clones for some reason.
