First why do they call laptops notebooks now?
I tried digging up the old dark shikari post when he/she needed their new laptop (think dark settled on an asus of some sort) but to no avail, laptop or dark shikari each generate too many threads.
Need a good laptop/notebook... Dont care if its AMD 64 or Core 2 (Eve is more vpu intensive) Min 1 gig ram preferably 667mhz, Preferably 2 gigs at 667mhz Min 256mb Dedicated Video card NOT shared memory or turbo cache etc... 20 gig+ hard drive 5200rpm minimum, preferably 7200rmp Don't care if its 15.4"-17"

I tend to think EVE is a bit more vpu intensive brassed on personal findings with my roommate and I both running 1 account each on freshly formated drives with the following specs.
Me ---- Core 2 - 2.4gh w/4mb Cache 2gigs corsair xms 2 5-5-5-12 ram ati x1600 pro vid card (waiting for ati rx60 in may-ish) raptor 10k rpm 40 gig hard drive
Him ----- Amd 64 2.0gh w/2mb Cache 1 gig corsair dont know timmings ati x1950 xtx (didnt wait for dx10 like it old him) raptor 10k rpm 76 gig hard drive
So I win on CPU and Ram, same HD, only diff is video where he runs eve flawless on any graphics with zero lag, I run with nothing selected to avoid lag...I'd say it's VPU but maybe since thats my weakest link.

Just a note, EVE is far more CPU than graphics intensive from my experience.

Get the Asus G1.
2Ghz Core 2 duo, 2GB RAM 667mhz, 5400RPM 160GB drive, 15.4" screen, GeForce 7700, wireless, everything. Even has a DVD-RW drive and a memory card reader, plus 4 USB slots and a camera and a built-in microphone... all for like 3 kilograms of weight and about 1800 dollars.
The Asus G2 is better for a similar price with a 17" screen, but weighs almost 5 kilograms--it is absurd.

Also on the look for a gaming laptop; budget is around 900GBP. Now, taking into account my relatively small amount of knowledge on laptops (hell, PC parts in general as well), is it possible to get a laptop that can play games like eve, supreme commander etc relatively well in that pricerange? I'm not too concerned on having a beast of a thing, but I know the games I play regularly, and I don't often go for the most recent release. (apart from supcom :P)

Macbook Pro booted into XP plays eve better than any laptop under 3k IMHO.

You are wrong. Or someone has an exceptionally badly setup system. Eve bottlenecks in CPU currently, eventually GPU will be much more extensively used, the DX9 plans have been well publicised in blogs. We are not there yet.
Fat cpu Lots of memory
