I am in part 5 of Making Mountains outta Mole Hills mission given by Uba Virserin. It tells me to take some recovered data and continue a guys research to create a Perpetual Motion Unit. Everytime i attempt to research the supplied blueprint it says i cant because it is a copy. I wanted to try material research but all the stations say i need to wait for weeks. I guess i just dont know what i am suppose to do next. I tried to just manufacture it and it says i need some sort of wheel item that i cant see on the market. Appreciate any help if anyone has done this mission. I am new so i am not sure if i supplied the right info or used terms right. Thanks for help.

You need to do invention on it to turn it into a perpetual motion II then manufacture that. Invention slots are at certain stations and there should be plenty free unlike material research slots.

Edited by: Souldigger on 15/04/2007 13:58:07 I am also stuck on this quest. The invention tool was not obvious to me. However, when I right click on the blueprint from my cargo or items box it asks me to select an installation site. When I have found one close to me I use the asemblyline button and click ok. It then says calculating quote. When the bar gets to 100% nothing seems to happen depsite w8ing for around 20 mins? (I am not able to do anything else after this and need to log out)
Firstly, am I doing the right thing and if so as anyone else had this problem?

It seems that you have to go to the installation site and get your quote. Oh well, move onwards and upwards :)

Here's one that the newb chat coudlnt' help me with...
I went through all teh hoops and "invented the wheel"... or at least I tried to. After waiting the 4 minutes to "invent" it... the game informed me that I had failed in my attempt. My blueprints as well as civillian technology stuff is gone.
How can I complete the mission now??

Never mind. It apparently is a known glitch in the mission. I just sent a petition and they gave me the necessary item.

Edited by: Shan''Talasha Mea''Questa on 17/04/2007 10:41:04 I guess the dev's devised this mission as a teaser for invention, but didn't factor in that when it fails we lose the possibility to finish the mission and have to take the standing hit for cancelling... will prolly be fixed Soon(tm).
But... I like the initiative to devise missions which involve the specific jobs in the game... especially if you can fly them without the need to train the skills for it to see if you want to train for it and do it for real.
Edit: Would be best if your first assigned lvl 1 agent gave these missions so you have a run through of the kind of jobs you have in EVE and what's involved in them. But hey, can't have it all...

This quest probably needs changed or elaborated on, or something.
Put yourselves in the shoes of someone who knows nothing about Industry or all its counter-intuitive user interfaces.
I had alot of trouble figuring out what to do. The text doesn't really tell you to *invent* something. It says finish the guy's *research*. So to me, that suggests that I need to do something with research. Then I look at the various confusing research options and see stuff like no labs available for use for like 3 weeks. :/
Afer I looked up the answer online, I noticed in the chat - no less than 10 other people stuck on the same mission in just a short period of time.
To me, that means this mission should be improved. Maybe just using the word "Invent" in the quest text would be enough.

I just did this mission
You can right click on blueprint - but choose invent rather than manufacturer
You need to find/ choose an installation to do te job - which is the tricky part
There were no places close by that could do it - a science station about 4 systems could - you can choose it - but it gives you an error message
Basically I had to take the blueprint and the other items with me to that station and invent it there
Then I had to manufacture the new blueprint -
So it was done this way
