If I'm running 6 accounts, will the 6 real cores of the 6800K provide better performance than the 4+4 hyperthreaded cores of the 6700K?
I have a 2500K currently, and FPS starts to drop a lot once I hit 4 accounts, and at 5 and 6 is noticeably sluggish and laggy.
I know 6700K will be better for other games, so curious if anyone knows if the 6 cores will provide any benefit with 5-6 accounts running over the 4.
Thanks!
Also, does ISO Boxer still work these days? What I would love it for is the ability to throttle clients that don't need fast response times. Cloaky eyes, station trading, ect. If not, anyone know any other software that can either throttle CPU or framerate per client?
I know Eve can do it, but it needs to be fullscreen which makes switching between clients slow and awful. |

IS Boxer is allowed... however the "broadcasting" feature is not.
Basically, you are not allowed to perform multiple functions (or have multiple clients perform the same function) with a single command.

Always go real cores!
Hyperthreading is never better.

Hyperthreading does almost nothing from my experience. Granted, I haven't run any game benchmarks, but when I compile my system packages from source with 8 threads and hyperthreading enabled, I can shave off about 6% compile time compared to 4 threads and hyperthreading disabled. I get about the same result when rendering with Blender. HT certainly does something, but not a lot. So, even just one or two additional physical cores beat HT by a long shot.
From what I've seen, one instance of Eve uses two cores: One having to do the bulk of the work, and one doing just doing a bit of work occasionally. So, in principle you'd be better off having 6 actual cores as compared to 4. However - it's Eve, for crying out loud! You'll be perfectly fine with 6 accounts on an i7 6700K. Not only does it have HT, there's also a performance difference between Sandy Bridge and Skylake, and the Skylake clocks higher. It's not huge, but it's noticeable.

Either will run 6 with equal ease. Eve isnt exactly a computation intensive physics simulation. It places far more demand on your graphics than your cpu.

Your processor is just fine. But how much RAM have you got? 8GB is bare minimum and 16GB recommended for heavy multiboxing.
How about screen resolution and graphics card? Have you got at least gtx 1050 level graphics? If you use high resolutions(4k) , you should have gtx 1060 or better graphics card with 6Gb VRAM.
I currently have i7-920 from year 2009, 12 GB ram and gtx 1050ti, two 1920x1080 displays and I multibox 2 accounts with maximum settings, I think my setup would handle 4 accounts as well.
If you have enough RAM and proper graphics card you should try to reinstall windows.

You surely are doing something wrong.. i run 3 constantly and another 2-3 when needed on my 3570k and never seen any fps drops. Pro tip if you have any gsync or freesync run, switch that off when multiboxing, for a couple of reasons:
1.having other apps running on one of the screens.. say browser or any other software quite often will affect directly your fps on the games. personally, noticed that having browser up with some facebook or youtube kills fp by like 40% on the games. both gsync and freesync are **** when it comes to multiple screens and multiple apps.
2.when syncs are on, more likely than not, all the inactive windows (say you run 6 clients.. if you are doing something in one, that window is the active window, making others "inactive" or background) will have their fps gimped, unless you have the camera zoomed out to the max. not sure why, since the clients themselves barely take 10% cpu each or around that most of the time.
<-- unbelievably low tollerance to stupidity in people.
That + you being your mother's child might aswell be the main reason why i am NOT your father.

6 accounts? lol
I think it's safe to say the 40k online can be divided by 10.
I'd say the true player count is roughly around 3-4 thousand players.
If you need to remind players EVE is a pvp game, there may be an underlying problem rooted so deeply you tend to ignore the obvious.

If you actually think the average player has 10 accounts logged in at once you're nuts |

Take a potato, then take a car antenna. Stick the car antenna into the potato, and you can play Eve Online with several accounts. Good luck. |

HT work on load that are made for it. Such load are kind of rare and also would require the application to be programmed for it. It's an interesting tech but not really useful for what the majority of computer are used for. |

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.
