Hi all,
I donÆt know how the other players have been feeling but I personally have felt there has been a change within the game of eve.
I know when I started playing over a year ago, everything felt so fresh and hopeful with ôNEW STUFFö on the horizon which would rock the eve universe as I knew it.
Sadly so far this stuff really hasnÆt eventuated, Revelations has come and given us some new toys, sadly none of those toys really felt newà
Rigs are extra slots on ships. New ships really didnÆt do much more than the old ships. Invention is about as depressing as the T2 lottery.
I was hoping this game was going to go somewhere and be something that I could play for many more years. I am just not seeing it. I was so confident in things changing I put 6 months on both my accounts. Now I feel like it was a hollow investment.
CCP you have my accounts but you have lost my soul, please resolve this apathy that has become the norm. I know I am looking around at other products on the horizon and the only thing keeping me logging in (EVE) is because the other products have not been released.
I love the EVE I remember, the EVE of today has lost its soul.
Regards, Pham Sirge

You sound a tad jaded. A break normally helps bring back the sparkle.

Sounds like a case of EVE burnout. Take some time off. Go smell the roses, and set that long skill you've been meaning to get around to.
I can virtually guarantee you you'll be back before the timeframe you were aiming for :). And if not, well, you've rediscovered life :)

Take a break for a little while, then one day you will be driving along, get cut off in traffic, and wish for a nice loadout of Heavy Launchers and a Webber on your car. It will bring you back with a fresh desire to play EVE.
Actually, I wish I had those launchers on my car now.

Yeah, i've been ingame just to set skills and reprocess some stuff(and other mundane jobs to fill the couple of minutes left on training), but other then that, it's been quite quiet in the flying and pew pew'ing stuff area.
You need to take a break and do something else for a while, even if it's nothing at all, just to keep the joy in gaming.

I think you need to look into a new aspect of Eve. For example, if you were previously a PvP player then try going down the path of a mission ***** or a production giant. Get involved in the vast sea of game politics and even play the game in roleplay terms. When you feel like things are not holding your interest much try do it differently, and you'll be surprised that you never experienced the game like that before.
I do this all the time. I remember when I first started my 14 day trial, I actually thought my noob ship was cool. Doing everything even jumping felt fresh and such a blast. But thats how things get, when you gain experience at them. A really good way of reigniting a flame in your Eve would be to explore a new area imo.
Best of luck. And if its still no help... can I have your stuff?

Well I am not sure what your corp does or where they live (Im at work no eve client here). But once you get out into low sec or 0.0 and are in a good corp/Alliance.
Thats when EVE really does start to shine. At least this is my experience sofar.

Things would be so much different without the LAG and the horrendous user interface (the overview etc.).

Hi, yeah I think the advice about taking a break is good advice. Ive been on since early 2004 and Ive more or less quit twice when Ive got to the stage of just logged on and sat staring at my ship in the hanger with no incentive to do anything!
Train a long skill or look into a new area, currently im getting a buzz from exploration as finding new items in hidden sites is cool :) Each to their own eh?
I wish you luck

Sounds like classic burnout to me. Take a break. I usually end up taking a break every six months or so. Usually after a week without Eve I start getting the urge to return and then I'm good for another six months.
Think of it as taking a holiday :)
Sadly right now I'm in the middle of a broadband migration so I had an enforced vacation last night and might have another tonight or even over the weekend. At least my skills will run for a week yet (veterans like me know to plan for outages at these times) but Sod's law means that at the time when I can't log on I can't get to the character sheet either, lol. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Can relate to the OP. There comes a time when you just sit in the hanger and stare at the screen wondering what to do and where to go next.
Since I had some RL commitments too I set BS5 on my characters and took a couple of months off. Doesn't take long to realise that Eve has the most depth of any MMO out there so here we are again.
Eve is a game where you need to set your own goals.

Edited by: Pham Sirge on 20/04/2007 10:53:47 Hi all,
Just to clear up a little issue from the 0.0 players... who are telling me to go back to 0.0.
I lived in 0.0 for over 8 months (an additional 2 living out of only a pos). I did the pos thing... I did the "Watch ASCN put up an outpost" thing... Ive done the blob thing... Ive done the War(and pos war) thing... Ive done the invade stuff with SMASH thing... The mining thing...
I moved back to empire... I did the mission thing... the building thing....
If its so easy to expand my gameplay perhaps you could enlighten me.
Regards, Pham Sirge

Edited by: Pan Tan on 20/04/2007 11:32:56 With your time spent, subscriptions and multi-faceted game play I'd say youÆre one dedicated pilot. Although perhaps a little weary I doubt your jaded, even the act of posting on the forum shows your still interested in eve.
I agree with everyone however about taking a break. Don't melt your characters because yah think this is the end of EvE. Train up and come back on the next big patch. Most of us aren't playing for what it is but what it could be, so it might hit the spot again soon with a change of perception. |
