Hi,
An idea to address the market clustering, manufacturing, low sec emptiness and Privateer wars in Empire space:
Security rate all items
If an item has a security rating of 0.5 it can only be manufactured and sold in 0.5 or lower. If T2 items are given a security rating of 0.4 it forces T2 manufacturing into low sec and corporations like Privateer Alliance will have no excuse to continue operating in high sec.
Having the security rating also influence where an item can be sold will reduce the market clustering we have now.

No? that would affect everything, from missions runners to empire pvpers to lowsec pirates in a baaaad way?

For the benefit of discussion can you actually supply some reasoning.

Well, first think is would use is centralized production, let's say you have a corp producing at one system, and then they can't anymore and have to plit to several systems to do their jobs. Secondly market hubs, yes there is an issue with them atm, especially one (jita) but these places are supposed to be secure.
Yes privateer alliance is wardecing to fight in empire almsot abusivel from some people's point of view but what aboutt he other wars?
And as for t2 being lowsec only i know that every pvper out there would try to get their share off it, and in general achieve that because they know how to fight so random t2 producer (bpo owner or inventor) moves to lowsec, gets spotted, gets stuck, has to move, and that would make me worry about t2 prices in the future even more than i am right now.

That's the most arbitrary suggestion I've seen to date.
Still an interesting idea for future T3. Hmm... contraband guns

i like that idea to crowd lowsec in such way, but why the hell do have to pick on privateers again, now ur idea is thrown in the bin because its gonna be a privateers discussion again

Contraband guns *does* sound like a good idea :)
Unfortunately I think T2 is being held as a *special treasure* too much, a role which should be reserved for things like faction/officer issue gear. It's a big shift in dynamic, esp for older players, to consider T2 as becoming commonplace. Making it more available is a step to making better ingame content too. To add a new layer of items would expand all careers ingame in one foul swoop, industrials *and* combat players.
It's like muskets to medieval warfare. They would've been considered supreme, but nowadays lots of people have even just a pistol.

I am not picking on Privateers. The Privateers state that they target the manufacturing and trading operations on the big Alliances in secure space. Moving the T2 market and manufacturing to low sec also means that the Privateer targets are now in low sec.
In other words, 0.5+ becomes more secure again, high sec corporations can be protected more as they do not gain an unfair advantage operating out of high sec. Instead, if you want to make real profit as a trader or manufacturer you now need to go to low sec.
It creates more of a natural progression, high sec -> low sec -> 0.0

Originally by: Ray Beams Well, first think is would use is centralized production, let's say you have a corp producing at one system, and then they can't anymore and have to plit to several systems to do their jobs.
You can still do one system manufacturing, you just have to pick a system with low enough sec rating to cover everything you manufacture.
Quote: Secondly market hubs, yes there is an issue with them atm, especially one (jita) but these places are supposed to be secure.
Why are they supposed to be secure?
Quote: Yes privateer alliance is wardecing to fight in empire almsot abusivel from some people's point of view but what aboutt he other wars?
If the current advantages of high sec manufacturing can be removed then Corporations in high sec can be protected more against random war decs without adversely affecting valid intent such as disrupting Alliance manufacturing divisions.
Quote: And as for t2 being lowsec only i know that every pvper out there would try to get their share off it, and in general achieve that because they know how to fight so random t2 producer (bpo owner or inventor) moves to lowsec, gets spotted, gets stuck, has to move, and that would make me worry about t2 prices in the future even more than i am right now.
It would open up a lot more jobs in low sec, security, blockade runner couriers, etc. Now you will have to protect your investment instead of just putting the profit in your backpocket. If the price goes up to keep their profit margins the same then their volume of sales will go down and they will end up making less profit anyway.
Currently there is no way to fight against a T2 manufacturer. They can do *ALL* their aquisition/production/sales in high sec. Moving these operations to low sec introduces a way to effectively combat T2 production.

Without moving the market into low sec all the manufacturer has to do is courier their goods to high sec once it is manufactured.
By actually shifting the trading of these goods you have buyers and sellers coming into low sec. You want T2? You take the risk.

Makes no sense at all.
Simply, civilization == technology. The higher the civilization rating (to a certain extent) the higher the technological level of the manufacturing capability.
In EvE it even makes sense in that the scientist that invent and create the plans to make everything are NOT combatants are aren't interested in being in dangerous areas. Hence your "brains" of society will also be in high sec.
The only way this would make any sense is if the empires decided that anything above XX power level was now restricted, including ships and modules, and couldn't enter empire space. This goes directly against the entire foundation of how EvE is setup and would kill the game. <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2

As long as people are lazy, and that they are! Meaning going to one system and docking and being able to purchase all the kit in one SB, they will never change it to what you suggest.
Its just fact. People are very lazy.
Which makes business good

Yes, lets model EVE logically. If Caldari were civilized would they allow people to be murdered outside Jita, the busiest trade hub in the known Universe, even if the Corporations were at war? With an entire Navy at your disposal would you not protect the centre of the trading universe?
Why would you allow independent corporations to wage war within your space?

What foundation? Why would it kill the game?
It actually makes sense. All The factions feel that the more powerful WAR equipment destabilizes the safety of the high sec peaceful systems. Which *is* actually the case at the moment. Their first step is to limit the trading and manufacturing of items that are deemed dangerous by sec status where the higher the danger rating the lower the sec status.
EDIT: Think of it as gun control. In the Frontier you can carry your guns in your holsters and walk around with a rifle on your back. You come to the civilized world you leave your guns in lockup somewhere.

That is very good suggestion imo. But somehow I think people would just produce there and move the stuff to jita anyway.

This is a nice suggestion, however its not gonna change much, alot of the t2 is already made in low sec alliance posses and in 0.0 space where all the cartels are. Its a good suggestion though.

Why not go full out and set it up as follow:
Highsec - Only T1 permitted. Lowsec - T1 and T2 permitted. 0.0 - T1, T2 and faction permitted.
If you enter with the wrong module / ship you get instapopped by the Techpolice that replaced Concord.
That should solve all your issues with EVE.
On a more serious note, if you want to fight T2 manufacturers, start inventing. Nothing has hurt the cartels more than that.
We're sorry, something happened. |

Another (poor) attempt to force people into low-sec. Why just can't you let other people play as they choose. EVE is freedom, i don't mind if other people want to kill each other as long as they don't try to force me into their gameplay. |
