Mining... one of the absolutly most boring things in eve, anyone who has done 20 hours per day of it knows exactly how "killer" this feature is. This is why you probably hear the "carebear" community constantly screaming "gimme more" toward ccp cause they have gone nuts from waiting for a lill pece of ore falling into cargohold...
Well, here is one more "scream", its a module to adress ore theft, its also a way to allow use of freighters as haulers for mining ops (OH NOES, BUT WE DONT WANT THAT! [ccp] tm) - yes, you heard right - FREIGHTER LIBERATION!; well in a sence.
Well, we have tractor beams in game (YEY!), so i think its time to do a "Trasport Link", what is it good for? HUH - absolutly NOTHING! exceeeept - when the module is active on a target (yes you need to lock and target a ship then activate the module on the target) it will trancfer all ore in host cargo to target ship cargo, please note - ONLY ORE is transfered, nothing else (stops exploit / abuse situation with say; drugs)
Stats ? Medium slot module, 5 cpu: 1 power, range: 15km, activation time: 60 seconds, activation cost 30 energy Skills required: Science IV
Now how do it ties to freighter ? Well as we know freighters cant do pickups in space but this module will allow gang members to "upload" stuff there.
"Blody hell its a perfect for macro miners!" - yes you could say that, and lot of you wiht "macro mining feavour" will, hell , put a limit on it: NOT USABLE ON TRIAL ACCOUNTS, hells, be even more drastic: NOT USABLE BY PEOPLE IN NPC CORPS, satisfyed ?
"God ñ%&/ñ%& this will introduce tons of AFK miners!!!!" - it can- yes, but doing afk mining has its own risks to do so and if miners accept those risks, its up to them not us to judge, if you have big problem with afk corps ripping your belts apart - war dec and kill them, with limits on module in place they cant hide behind npc corp or trial accounts so they are free and valid target for player judgment.
Well, why we would want those modules then ? Its really simple fact really; 1) first of all it removes the need for a "tin transfer", no more theft from ejector tins nor any more new anchored secure containers littering belts, causing lag and agrovation. 2) interaction needed; in case of a smaller hauler miners will need to lock hauler every time it re-enters the op and is ready for transfer, this is cource less needed for freighter. 3) unlock one of the frieghter uses; to be honest - freighters have been to heavily nerfed, this will at least enable heavy industry based corps to use it in one more way.
In overall it should make mining op a little more secure, little more enjoyable and a little more effective, and more is good, more choices we have the better the general feeling.
Oh and do get that song, its radher nice one, could say a classic.
