Well many of you might have seen the news about Mordus Legion puting in operation a ship classes as " flagship"
Any toughts about that being a storiline hint about future ships.. ? Would that be capital ships like teh text suggests or would the flagships mean the for long time refered as "flagship" class... the T2 battleships?

EVEMon shows a non-public Spaceship Command skill, called "Flagships" (Rank 2). Prereqs are Leadership 5, Wing Command 5 and Spaceship Command 5.
Oh, and the description says: "Skill at operating Wing Command Carriers. Can not be trained on Trial Accounts."
Intriguing...

More than likly its a T2 Bs, i dont see any gaps in the roles amongst capital ships(no miner class for carebears) and i cant see them releasing a t2 Cap ship. With any luck we'll see them ingame soonÖ and not just some random Npc spawn.
Maybe they(ccp)will grace us with somthing other than a recoloured T1 Bs?
It will be intresting what role they will play compared to the t2 Bc's, will they offer commandship type bonus's? or will they remain (primarily)Damage dealers? |

Flagships were rumoured as the 'T2 battleships'. I rather like the idea, but I remain unsure as to what they could do, that wouldn't make them just plain better than 'normal' BS, and make commandships redundant.
Maybe single gang assist, and 'implicit' ship bonus? (E.g. titan style)
*shrug* T2 BS are both a cool idea, and a scary one, as ... well, at the moment 'normal' BS are a defacto standard.

Edited by: Galen Silas on 16/04/2007 13:44:59 I can actually remain pretty confident in saying that "Flagships" ARE going to be Tech2 BS's, and something was said as to there purpose being a heavy fleet ship sporting gang mods and the like. Think it's EVEFiles or EVEVault... somehting like that. They have a Video of the Tech2 BS's in there, all except the Raven i believe.
Also to the Capitol Mining ship comment, either it's in the patch notes, in an interview report, or on the news. Something about ORE designing a new mining vessel of Capitol proportions. So that leads me to believe there might just be a Capitol Mobile Refinery/Miner/Industrial ship coming out. Would be pretty neat.

Well that is stupid ... Command ships will become useless then (for the role CCP intended) they are hardly worth using as their description roles dictate as it is

Hmmmm, will I need to make another alt that can fly Recons to move my Capitol Miner around, since my current Recon flyer IS my miner.
Any thoughts on Capitol Miners being usable in Highsec?

Only if flagships get 'commandship' resistances. Of course, given that commandships are pretty much better than HACs (although not necessarily better firepower than BCs. I seem to recall the Drake does more damage than the nighthawk, and the vulture isn't totally outclassing the Ferox or Eagle) in terms of tank and firepower, then I wouldn't be _too_ suprised to find the same thing happened with battleships.
Not that I think it's a good think mind. A BS is already a 'good' ship. A BS that's better, will become as cookie cutter as BS are now, unless they've insane skills to fly. BS 5 isn't a short train, but ... well, it's generally a good skill to have _anyway_.

well not really, Command ships have there purposes that maybe a flagship can't fill. I probably should have mentioned before that a big idea which I have read from mass posts about it, that flagships are generally a Giant Support ship, not being there for direct Firepower. Command ships can be a bit of both. It can go many ways around I just try to sum stuff up the best i can really
to the above comment, it's totally right. If you notice, the larger the ship gets in Tech2 class, the smaller the number on the natural resists, although it may be more than its natural Tech1, it's still smaller. NIIIIIIIIIIIICE!! |

Funny you should say that as i heard a while ago that t2 Bs were going to be able to make limited use of jumpdrives. Imagine if they were able to jump a few smaller class ships with them when they did... RUMROE to be capital.. ;)
also the word flagship has been used to describe T2 BS for long time. Also about 2 months ago a few stats of teh T2 APoc were leaked (screenshot form same source of the movie it seems). It had the resist of the CS (combat version) and the hitpoints of a faction BS.
These thigns could sovle the titan problem in eve. titans can continue to wipe fleets of noob ships. But a single titan blast won be huge problem for a T2 Battleship.

By reading the news, it seems to be a capital ship... maybe a faction dread? (as it has already been said there will be some limited capship npc presence soon in imissions/belts/complexes)

Actually, it'd be rather cool, IMO, if 'flagship' was a bit of a Command ship, and a bit of a Logistics ship. Then I wouldn't mind a bit if it had 'HAC grade' resists + BS tank. Because it'd be 'support the fleet' rather than OMGWTFPWNAGE.

Im betting its going to be a smaller carrier, mabey on the t1 battleship hulls but im not sure. The skills seem to suggest to me: large drone bay, warfare link mods and remote reps.

I'd love to see a smaller carrier based on the rokh hull, would be like the saratoga from space above and beyond. Got a feeling tho its gonna be a carrier with plenty of leadership fun added to increase fleet effectiveness.
