So.
Your favorite lovable noob.
My omega accounts run out in about 2-3 days.
Looks like I have been stung by the EVE. Lookin for a few pointers.
Is it stupid to have 2 accounts? My original idea (by a member in this forum) was to fast train 2 characters on 2 accounts and then maybe merge them into 1 account.
Should I drop one character and train a 1 multitalented? I Have Jon (the explorer) which I fly mostly and Trasch which I only fly occasionally cause I have not yet taking the leap to join a corp. or FW.
The ships and style I seem to like most are the sneaky, sniper ones.
Is Buzzard for Jons exploring ok?
Somebody said Manticore would be great for Trasch.
What other good options are there for covert op (cloaking) in terms of ships and career?

I tried having multiple accounts, but it turns out I don't really have the attention span for it.
The intention was to make the other one a dedicated miner/industry person, but I really don't care for that aspect of the game, so I let that sub lapse and will extract what SP I can from it once it has all the alpha skills trained.
I can see many ways that an alt account would be useful; scouting, cyno for jumps, intel gathering; but I really just can't be bothered, seems too much like work to me. Also doesn't really make much sense financially for me at the moment.
Keep training the alt if you decided to let it lapse, at the very least, you'll have a fully-trained alpha for future considerations. |

I have two accounts, an Alpha and an Omega. My Alpha is mainly there to handle my High Sec Purchases. I personally find no use in having two accounts. Some players use a second account as Kazual listed above. Some use it rep during mission or site running to stay out longer. Its really a matter of personal choice.

only if you think it is.
seriously, do you need to have a second character online with your main?
if you do the no, its perfectly reasonable and normal. if you dont , and dont need the convenience of a second training cue then it might not be.
we cant answer this for you , this is your call.
personally speaking , eve to me is running two im just that used to it

My original idea was to have Jon (the explorer) account so I could have a steady income. Not to buy Plex but to afford ships, fittings et.c. for Trasch too.

if you are going to get multiple accounts:
1st: send yourself a "recruit a friend" link. So if you ever decide to financially subscribe your alt, you will get the reward for getting a "paying" new account into EvE wich is a plex if my memory is correct.
2nd: if you make multiple alts, i think there is no reason in my opinion to use the "multiple training skill queue" on a single account. the montly fees are higher than a regular subscription on an individual account AND you will never be able to log yourself on your 2 account simultaneously wich is VERY usefull!!!
3rd: if you make multiple alts, try to train your toons in a complementary way so you can get synergy out of your toon and experiment different aspect of the game whitout have ot suffer the slow, long and painfull real life training time. Train on in Missil and the other in projectile weapon for example. Make one complete explorer and one combat oriented pilot. Or skill toward PVE and the other one for PVP. Indy and PI or Market trader? Hauler or ganker... the possibilities are infinite.
To give you an idea, i have few alts... all separated accounts. One for mission, exploration, logi and T3, hauler-miner-slavager-processer, and 2 capital pilot slowly cooking over time!
4th: create yourself some Alpha alt... those are free and fully train thm slowly, they will become handy in the future to harass a targer under the cover of anonimity. going to PVP with no consequences. it should cost you arount 15-20M ISK in skill book over 6-7 month of training. Creat one of each race!
Be creative! Be Agressive! Be a ****! This is what EvE is all about.
Dont forget EvE Moto design: Im not having fun unless you are not having fun!

If you have a specific focus and limited set of skills for the alt, then it can be cheaper to have two accounts and then transfer the character from the second account once all the skills are trained, so you then drop back to one subscription.
Whether it is cheaper or not depends on how long you want to train the alt, because the transfer fee is $20 or 2 PLEX.
So if you run 1 account and pay for multi character training with PLEX, you'll pay $35 per month roughly (at monthly subscription)
If you have 2 accounts subscribed paying monthly, you'll pay $30 per month roughly.
At 5 months of training and then transferring the alt for $20, you'll pay $170 using 2 accounts as above, versus $175 for PLEX and multi character training.
Generally, if you need less than 6 months to train your alt, PLEX may be overall cheaper to use multi character training on the obey account. If 6 months or longer, then 2 accounts and transfer may be overall cheaper.

Nice suggestions.
Think I will go with 2 accounts a bit longer. Both characters have some crucial level 5 trainings coming up. They also have very different skillsettings.
How about the co-op career ideas?

Two accounts are better than one. Mainly if you do PvP. There advantage is big. You can do a site in low sec on one character, and have another one just cloaked in tech 3 cruiser. If somebody would try to enter your site and destroy your ship, here you can surprise him with additional force multiplier. Its like taking a candy from a baby then.

Two accounts make you a lot harder to kill, for example if you haul in hisec a scout can save you from jumping into a ganker or bumper, in terms of moving around null sec I use a T3C nullified and covert cloaked to scout for a BR. In PvP a repper or ECM or bait tackle ship add to the enjoyment, but each to their own.
When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

I always regret activating a second subscription lol
Mostly because I enjoy the extra hard-mode of having to rely on others for intel and courier contracts - it helps create an immersive experience which is why I came here in the first place. Whenever I try having two players, I am less of a character and more of a single player which starts to feel like a job.

Two accounts? Well...you might find a scout and/or cyno and/or freighter webbing alt useful for you depending on what you're doing...or alts for "less savory endeavors".
Some prefer to only have one account (and often really just one character) for their immersion and depend on others for functions needed. Convenience issue, really.

Never did worry about income or money or any of that, I went the multi-boxer route so I could fly three ships at once and kill people. Sadly, that never worked out, it was basically just a way for me to lose more ships. Managing three ships in a fight can blow your situational perception right out the port hole. But there are areas where multi-boxing can shine; mining, for one. I'm currently using a couple Skiffs with a big freighter chasing cans and cleaning up the rat kills, keeps one busy, not that much of a grind and it doesn't take long to build a stake so I can replace what got sploded and try it again, but with variations on the losing tactics.
But the main thing is and always has been: This is a big, beautiful shambling wreck of a game with so many different ways to play that, for the most enjoyment, you must play it your way and do not pay attention to the unpleasant trolls who attempt to heap shame on anyone who does not play it the way they think it should be played.
Forum Rep for a bunch of characters, couple corps

I actually run 3 omega's and 3 alpha's atm. The alpha's are (rather slowly) training for hulks, the 3 omega's run either the setup of 1x rorq, 2x hulk or 1x nidhoggur, 1x cyno alt/salvager, 1x scout.

Thank you everybody for opinions.
Here is the deal:
All the things I want to do and pursuit involves cloaking. You cant cloak with Alpha.
Since Jon (the explorer) is the one making ISK I would have to make Trasch Alpha and train Jon into combat too.
That means I will have trouble helping out with Trasch and fit implants et.c. on Jon.
Is that reason enough to have 2 accounts?

if you have the real monies, there's hardly no reason for you NOT to get a 2nd or a 3rd account, in fact, i'll encourage you to do so, provided that you have the money and in no way will affect your real life finances.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like you really need 2 accounts. I'd say, make one Omega and keep the other Alpha. |

Wait until CCP sells, maybe some clever investors will manage to drain the swamp and, despite the clunky legacy code, to rework mechanics so they actually make sense and cannot be exploited like they are now.

I just got a second account after playing for a year and a half, and the reason was because I found a PvE / industry niche that having a second account greatly helps with.
Personally, the only reason I would have 2 characters training for covert ops would be to do black ops hot drops in null sec (character 1 lights a cloaky cyno for character 2 in the BLOP)
most people I know that use multiple accounts use them for additional miners or for scouting reasons.
My advice would be if you don't have an extremely specific training plan for the second account (ships, fitting, area of space, daily activities, etc.) then you should hold off on the second account. Most of the benefits of multiple accounts can be achieved by joining a "big enough" corp. |

A single account is fine literally anywhere. I've been playing in mostly lowsec for almost five years now with a single account. Your personal failure/fear to exit high sec with one account is your own problem. The fact is, at the end of the day, if you did indeed need more than one account to participate in any aspect of the game, it would be a scam. But you don't. You just need to learn how to make friends, and it wouldn't surprise me one little bit if no one wanted to be yours.
Vortexo is right. If you're only here to troll the forums, and aren't actually playing the game, then nothing you say about it is relevant, and it actually explains a lot of the complete and utter stupid you expatiate around here.
