So, about 3 weeks ago, I broke my humourus bone while snowboarding. Since then my life has been a general pain in the ass as my left arm doesn't work any more due to it being strapped to my body (Its a clean break and apprently needs to heal naturally, no cast).
Fortunately, playing eve isn't too bad, cause I can do everything via a mouse... well, almost everything.
The one thing in EVE that is doing my head in atm, is not being upble to unstack a pile of items, with holding down the shift key :(
Please can we have a simple "unstack" option from the drop down menu when you right click on a stack of anything.
Thanks
Maarud.

If possible, bind shift to your mouse, makes it so much easyer.

@OP: I'm pretty sure you can find something to help you in the Start=>Control Panel=>Accessibility Options
The sticky keys come to mind.

Why should it just be there? to clutter up the right click menu even more with a function that would barely be used as it's simpler to use the shift button?
Sorry for your arm, but your idea is bad...

Does Sticky keys work in eve? I've not tried it, but might be worth a go.
I broke my humourus a few back (snowboarding). I managed to snap one of the knuckles off and had to have it screwed back on again. I know your pain

Yup pencil in the mouth should work..
If not jus put your mouse on the side of your keyboard closest to the shift key, depending on which arm you broken use your little finger or your left thumb to press shift, an navigate from there

clutter up the menu ? what are you running a pentium 3 or something (scared of client side lag) ?
I would find this useful as well I do not feel like sitting like a geeky nerd over my desk with both arms ready to be used for playing eve at any time, This is why i quickbar items so that I do not need to type them in search every time.
Just because you do not need something does not mean it will somehow ruin your gameplay or that it isnt needed

Win.
Incidentally I have used my nose to press keys before...I have even augmented my piano playing with my nose (anyone remember "Thomas the Tank Engine"? With the guys inside the jukebox?).

In this case when I say clutter I mean unwanted things that take your attention away from what you need to do, cluttering in contextual menu's is a huge problem in interface design as you want the contextual menu's to be extra understandable and accessible.
Putting everything that anyone would ever want to use into a contextual menu is a bad design practice.
Creating a custom shortcut key for splitting stacks would be far better idea, and I will reluctantly admit that it might not be entirly stupid to have it in the left click menu if it would be contextualized to appear only on items that are in stacks, it might even replace "stack" with "un-stack".
So no, im not runnning a pentium 3 and im not afraid of lag, and yes Ive changed my mind it might be a good idea.

I just discovered I can reach right-shift and my left-click at the same time with one hand (pinky/thumb). Give it a shot.

A left click menu would indeed solve the problem !

i just tried. it is possile to hold the shift with your "little finger" while moving the mouse. so it can be easily done with one hand :) __________________________ i will get a new sig soon. |

I have a buddy who plays this game and has no use of his hands whatsoever. He controls his computer using voice-activation, and there's no way for him to shift-drag, so he can't split stacks. Right-click menu entry for this would be very useful. __________________________________________________

i think the only way to launch the split stack dialog without using the keyboard is to put the stacked items where they dont fit all in
