I have noticed a lot of people talking about meta levels of items, I was just wondering where they found these meta levels?
Is there a database somewhere or am I not looking hard enough in-game?

Edited by: Qual on 19/04/2007 12:45:14 Indeed thats the most used out of game database.
The rule of thumb to remember though is: The better the item, the higher the metalevel.
T1 = lvl 0 T1 Named = lvl 1-4 T2 = lvl 5 Faction items = lvl 6-9 T3 = lvl 10 (?) Officer items = lvl 11-
It seems you can only use items of a lower level to invent an item of certain metalevel. This is why you can not use faction and officer items for T2 invention. I would expect faction loot to be useable for T3 invention though. Question of course beeing: Do you really want to do that?
INteresting detail: It seems that the bug that plagues detroyer invetnion atm is that they forgot to set the T2 destroyers to metalevel 5. This indicates that EVE actually calculates what can be invented instead of just looking it up in a static table.
Dear CCP, couldnt you guys set the Imprial Apoc to meta 5, just for a patch or two?

Thanks folks,
I think I might adjust and go into mod invention, since ship invention seems to be a pain in the ass. I've only had one successful run so far, but persistance is a flaw i have.
Thanks again, for the link, and the info guys. Much appreciated

Can you use T2 modules as the meta item for invention jobs? I thought I read somewhere in a dev blog or something that you could only use T1 items but I could be wrong. It would be nice to get the extra meta point to help with the invention chance of success.
