Greetings!
Not a huge idea - and certainly not going to change the mechanics of EvE game-play..........
At present, players who can only afford one monthly subscription, but have multiple toons, have to log-in to an account, go to their character sheet, pause training, log out, log in again to an alternate character before they can start any training with them.
More of a 'player convenience' idea, what about providing players the option to be able pause a character's skill training at the character log in screen itself? Just a 'Pause all training' button on the log in screen that you can click before you log in another character want to work with.
Or am I just being lazy?

Excerpt this is one of those little irritations. Not strong enough to push people to quit but strong enough to give that last little nudge to plex that second character.

Why not just train all the skills on your first character and just do multiple things with them? Knowing how legacy coded the skills section is even with all the updates, This doesn't seem a very effective work to benefit ratio. |

Never got why ppl did this either Splitting sp like this just seems dumb Different things are done in different places: trading in Jita, mining or carebearing safe behind friendly lines, active combat near enemy lines (possibly different locations for subcaps and capitals). You don't want to have to move from scanning around a wormhole back to form up a defence / offence fleet if it might take an hour to arrive and the action be over before you got there.
Also, in the past you could get multiple characters trained simultaneously even when unsubscribed, so many did that and transferred characters later, building up stables of different characters on different accounts. Some just bought new specialised characters later.
As to the OP: it's the same reason we can't press one button to log out to character select. Something about "auth tokens" or some-such. |

having a second trained toon isn't dump splinting the training you are paying for is I'm not 100% sure I follow you, but I think the OP doesn't want to have to pay for more than a single subscription, but still wants to be able to have one character for fighting and carebearing, and one for trading and hauling (for example) in different areas.
If he's in RvB for example, he definitely wants characters outside of RvB for shopping, hauling and whatever he does for making his daily bread, exploration perhaps.
There are valid reasons to split SP among characters on one account, and if he doesn't want to pay extra RL money, then his method is the only way. |

But they're not without opportunity cost. The ISK you make and minerals you mine aren't "free".
If you don't want to split training and have 5 accounts plexed, good for you, but the OP might not be in the same situation as yourself, so it's a bit unkind to imply that he is 'dumb' for wanting to train in his way.
I'm just pointing out that the way the server-client relations are set up I don't think his suggestion will be implemented. |

oh yes as a person with several accounts all full of toons with 5m+ sp chars this would have been a VERY welcome thing when i was training my little alts into cyno toons or production toons etc.
But what i would LOVE to get is a button for "change character" on the account so i dont have to close the client and start it up again! |

Why not go a step further and make it so that you are able to stop/pause skill training on other characters no matter which one you're currently logged in with.
So you have character A and B. Your skill queu is active on A, but you're currently logged in with your mining alt, B and want to change skill activity to that one. So why not make it character interactive, so that I can actually pause skill training on A whilst logged in with B?
Of course it should be something Station specific like Clone Bay or Repair modules, so that you can only do this on specific stations and it should obviously cost money, and you should have a skill trained before the option unlocks..
Just a thought. |
