Hey guys,
So, am an old player returning to a lot of new stuff in game so the learning curve at the moment is a little like that good old EVE learning curve graph
In the past have done a lot of blueprint research and copying out of POS's, so am obviously quite used to those mechanics. But with the introduction of citadels, am also now looking into those as well.
So if, just at the moment, I want to carry on with blueprint research and copying, would a good old POS be the way to go (if i still can) or am I now looking at citadels as the only realistic option for the future as i take it they will be replacing POS's?
This is all high sec stuff I'm referring to. Plus I take it with citadels you can still remote research/copy blueprints when items aren't physically located there?
Sorry for the somewhat n00b questions, but any advice at this early learning stage again would be greatly appreciated :)

A Raitaru with the Research Lab service module plus ME, TE and Copy accelerator rigs will cost more to setup but less to operate than a small POS (9 fuel blocks per hour) and provide comparable bonuses. You can also set it public and collect taxes from others. I know of several public engineering complexes with ME & TE rigs but the copy rig is rare.
Nice features include offices so it's comparable to working in a station and asset safety - your BPO's are safe, even if the structure is destroyed.
You can skip the rigs (which represent most of the cost) and still get the 15% hull bonus for ME, TE & copy time or you can rent an office in a public EC.
POS still works but we've been put on notice that CCP intends to remove them from the game once the new structures achieve feature parity. Unlikely to happen this year. |

No, that's been gone for years.
BPOs must be in the location where they are being researched/copied.

Why use Raitaru and not a Sotiyo? There are a number of available Sotiyo's in high sec. |

What is the best way to find these locations and what is the cost structure job for installing a job in one? Does System Index still play a factor? |

To find them, go to Industry -> Facilities -> filter by "Within skill range". My scientific networking skill allows 20 jumps, so it covers most of the highsec from anywhere in high sec. Then sort by Facility type. Sotiyo should be sorted between Station and Raitaru. I see 3 of them in High Sec (Cat, New Caldari, Teonusude). Pay attention to installed rigs as Tax rate. It might be better to use a well equipped Raitaru or Azbel.
System Index still plays a factor in cost. So does facility tax %. For expensive jobs (ship, capital research) you might be interested in cheaper facilities. But for cheaper ones you might be interested in a skill. Worst comes to worst - go to a Sotiyo and see how much it would cost. On the way there, stop at a Raitaru you like and compare.
