in the first months i was always right there to change a skill when one finished, even changing to another skill if a rl issue was going to keep me from changing. but lately i've missed a few with several hours lost in the last month. case of get a life or do others do the same, start strong and then start slacking?

I've done that a few times. Especially at the beginning before I learned about EveMon. The only times I forget to change skills is usually when it is set to finish before I go to sleep or when I will get up but sleep in instead. -------------------------------------------------- #1. Pillage, THEN burn. #8. Mockery and derision have their place. Usually, it's on the far side of the airlock. |

I usually have long skills training when offline and then try to train short skills when playing. However, I often forget to switch back to a long skill at the end of a session, so can lose at least a night's worth of training. Fortunately I usually check in the morning so usually catch it then.

Don't worry.. it's nasty to miss skills but I've done it a lots of times mostly due to RL issues. With a lot of small skills it's a pain to time it right... - I'm a nice guy!! and OMG I love Team Tuxford for the speedbalancing... |

I have two accounts, at a very unsure guess I'd say I lose 12hrs every month between the two of them.
Can't be bothered to be more efficient, you know, there is a world outside EVE. It looks like Jita from where I'm sitting

I've been playing Eve since release on various accounts (I love the newb's perspective I guess) and every time I follow the same pattern you do: I start out sometimes setting my alarm clock to switch skills early on, then about 2-3 months go by and I'll let it go without training for half a week without thinking about it.
Eh, I don't play Eve for those little white dots on the charsheet.

I lost 2 weeks of training when my daughter was born. Not that I minded. Otherwise just missed a few hours here, couple of hours there as I didn't want to bother getting up in the middle of the night or switch a skill already in progress before going to work/sleep.
Probably around a month lost total.

Lately without EveMon working because of the character sheet disabled, I have missed a ton. At first I didn't notice it, kept thinking I was being absent minded. Then I realized what was going on. All in all, in the past week I bet I have lost at least 24 hours of training on each of my accounts.

I lose skill training time all the time but only a few hours at a time, I usually just put them on a long skill that takes about 5 days now, but still miss them (5 accounts)
3 of them are not training as we speak.

Hm dunno exactly, i think i lost only a few hours in my carreer sofar, all in all mebbe a day or 2 max?
3 years of playing and still going strong, i think u should get worried if u no longer care about losing several hours impo... sure, after a while u start to find a balance between RL and eve but that doesn't mean i don't try to switch to a longer skill if i know that i won't be there when the skill ends.
Anyways what i always do is have a long skill and a short one, long skill i do while not logged on, short skill i switch to when logging in, easiest way not to lose points. Only times i lost a few is when i swore i had switched to a long skill and this turned out not to be the case.

I've got two accounts that both finish trains at about 2PM today, and I won't be home until 8PM to change them.
Such is life, I don't really worry about it these days.

To be honest I miss more when I was training low level skills all the lv 1 -3 trains that took werid amounts of time.
Now I am onto 1-5 day trains its a lot easier to get the to work.

I look at the time the skill has before logging, if it is going to complete before I get home the next day I train one of the level four skills till I get home.
But on the average I loose one or two hours a week/month

Well I have 2 accounts and not floating my own boat but usually quite switched on with when skills finished. I am probably the opposite to most and get worried if I got a skil finishing half way through the night or even worse not training them at all. I never can sleep when I start to wonder "did I put that 18hr or 4 days skill" SIG:

I've not been too bad. The occasional forgetfulness when logging off. My worst was probably not realising that skills trained offline for the first 2-3 weeks I played, resulting in about 2 weeks of lost time overall.

I've been better about it lately, Barron is spoiling me working on a 56 day skill (35 and counting). Janu loses about 10 hours a month. I work 9 hour days, and if there's a seven hour skill I really want, I'll go with it and get over the two hours lost.
This is my sig, there are many others just like it. With me, my sig is worthless. Without (or with even) my sig, I am worthless... |

A few mins here, an hour there, couple of days if I'm not near a computer. It really doesn't make much difference.
Also I use +3s cause they are affordable to lose, but if I can't find any on the market I use +2s, I don't really notice the difference.
Don't get hung up on skills, for example I have astrometrics at 5. Before Revelations it was needed to use all the probes. But now 3 would be enough. So I have 'lost' more training time through a patch than I have lost because painting my toe nails was more important.

i think for newer players a half a day lost is a big chunk of potential improvement lost, not so for players with a few years in. anybody have a skill finish in the middle of a battle and then be so pumped after, completely forget that it had finished. lost a day, but i was still smiling

if they get the lite client sorted, this should become a thing of the past.
although i won't be so keen to get home and log-in, so whilst i'll gain Skill Training From The Pub Lvl5, i'll be spending far less time actually flying the pretend spaceships.

At first, I was always bang on time when changing skills, even to the point of waking up in the middle of the night (Sad, I know), but now that I've been playing for over three years, most my skills take a week or more, so I just sort of don't care about a hour here and there.. I'd say I lose about a day or two every month of training. ------------------------- Sigs are for noobs. |
