Original story
Quote: POSTOUVIN - The Scope has learned that Astral Mining has lost contact with a prospecting facility in the region of Solitude, after a complete communications blackout was put in place from on board the platform several hours ago.
The corporation has confirmed that the facility, which specializes in high value Nocxium extraction and refining, initially issued a distress call to its headquarters at around 08:00 NEST, reporting details of widespread disruption and rioting. The distress call was silenced and reported as a hoax around fifteen minutes later, before the facility went completely dark less than an hour later.
Commander Audere Esmoreures, the corporation's Regional Security Director for Solitude, released a statement approximately an hour ago appealing for calm among the interstellar press and the families of more than eight million believed to still be on board, before pledging to deliver further information as soon as more is known about the situation.
In the statement, Esmoreures elaborated on the purpose of the facility, stating that "the RP4 extraction and refining facility was set up almost fifty years ago, after Astral Mining discovered a small but dense asteroid field trapped in orbit of Postouvin IV that was found to be rich in Nocxium deposits."
Commenting further on the installation's safety record, he said "RP4 has one of the best safety records of any of our larger class extraction and refining facilities, with no major accidents reported since YC117. It refines and processes Radiant Hemorphite, which is considered a relatively stable and safe to handle raw material."
Closing his statement to the interstellar press from on board the Astral Mining mineral reserve in Heluene, he confirmed that "a security task force has been dispatched to RP4 in order to ascertain the nature of the communications blackout" and that "the families of those on board will be notified as soon as we have further information, and a statement to the press will be forthcoming."
When questioned regarding the sudden nature of the blackout, and the fact that images of the facility have circulated in the press with all docking bays sealed and lit up with no access beacons, Director Esmoreures declined to comment further, repeating previous statements that the situation on board was "still completely unknown".
It's getting weirder and weirder, especially with information like this - "When questioned regarding the sudden nature of the blackout, and the fact that images of the facility have circulated in the press with all docking bays sealed and lit up with no access beacons,", one can only hope everything is under control. It's only one jump from Niballe which is one of the busiest systems in Solitude.

Sealed bays and terminated access beacons sounds like a localized quarantine, but odd that there aren't any quarantine broadcasts-- at least so far as we're aware of.
Mind, it could very easily just be that pathogens are on everyone's mind, and I'm assuming that Postouvin is associated with the on-going crisis.

Mind you Postouvin is one jump away from Niballe which has a Federation Research Station there.
I find that fact very interesting indeed.

As noteworthy is that while this is the first secure space incident since these exposures began, it is also not far from null security space, and is significantly isolated from the core of the Federation.

This incident bears more of the markers of Muttokon and Oijanen. Admittedly, I expected that if the Federation were to be hit, the trouble would occur closer to the core, and I did not consider Solitude in my datadive. |

And that makes four, if it pans out. Not that the three previous events hadn't already all but confirmed that this is planned and intentional. All the important questions of course remain unanswered, like what exactly is going on (bioweapon / terrorism sounds likely but it's also something I'd definitely use as a distraction in the right scenarios), who's behind it and whether or not we should be rooting for them or employing our particular brand of mass destruction upon reveal.
Either way, still not worried. So far these attacks - and yes, at this point it's safe to say they're attacks due to spread pattern and timing - have proven themselves localized and even in the worst case scenario they can be handled with the proper application of firepower or jumpgate quarantines.
What might prove worrisome is the real plan behind this. I am not buying that these localized events are the end-goals in themselves. No one with that kind of resources and reach have vision so... lacking. |

Actually I was wrong about my figures.
There is another system two jumps away that also has a research station for the Federation Navy.
I realize that straws are being grasped in the actual cause of the event, but they are ones that we as capsuleers could check out and perhaps glean some information from?
There might be pattern in the surrounding systems for each of the events. Especially with regards to research facilities.

I appear to have been wrong in my previous conjecture that the warehouse raid in Yveve II is related.
It still might be related but it is looking less and less likely (note though: Yveve and Postouvin aren't that far from eachother).
Genolution is the leading corporation selling Cloning tech right? And the leader of Zainou, Todo Kirkinen, was the first to upload a consciousness to a machine. An independent pilot landing in a docking bay at Efu V-I and an unnamed pilot of an unnamed frigate crash landed on Oijanen II just prior to the Cordoning off of Myrskaa. There isn't a confirmation that the two pilots were capsuleers or but that might be how the pilot survived the crash on Oijanen.
Considering the above, is this related to Alpha Clone tech? |

Despite not being called one officially, the measures taken ("all docking bays sealed and lit up with no access beacons") hardly resemble anything but a quarantine.
Still, although the events bare some similarities (null-sec proximity of the sites being the most obvious), more data is required for a pattern to become visible.
Logic dictates continuous observation should any further developments emerge.

Hoping that Postouvin is completely something different, but it looks to similar.
