Hi,
I'm not trying to be funny, disrespect, or name anyone inparticular.
But why is it that so many people seem to have a bad attitude when posting replies? Ive posted lots recently and some of the replies ive gotten are quite rude, am i dealing with adults, or just a bunch of eleven year olds?
Just bear in mind this is only a game, which is supposed to be fun btw. Regards,

From my experience, the vast majority of a games community does not post on the forum, the people you get that do post are (im generalizing here I know) the whiny/angry people who have some beef that they are determined to voice. As such you end up with a lot of 'emotionally charged' messages, especially in the general discussion section. On the other hand, the EVE-O forums are pretty calm compared to what I have seen on other games forums (one in particular, that shall remain nameless...wow...). -=^=-

Most people who post such responses tend to be idiots who think behaving like a retard makes them big. Usually bully victims or something.
I'll admit that I have made such responses myself on rare occasions, but it's usually when I'm pretty tetchy. Living with complete imbeciles does that to you.

People tend to come to the forums in a bad mood, or agitated mood.
Either: come to whine after getting podded, scammed, etc. = bad mood. Or: come to stroke e-peen. Anyone that has ever stroked e-peen will know you are often agitated after you finish.
Because they don't just post their whine or stroking messages, their emotions spread to other threads.
Then there are those of us who post while at class/work. We can't play, so no poddage of us. Our bosses don't like when we get the epeen out, so no agitation. We are rather pleasant people during this time

It might be something to do with asking for Huginn setups when you didn't know what jamming was. Leads people to suspect you just bought the account without playing the game from the beginning.

im being harrased again, what gave u the impression i dont know what jamming is, I asked what combat recon is best for taking down a rook, from all the constructive replies i got i gather this is quite a hard task. because my alt is a minnie, i thought about using a huginn to do the job seing as it will only take 20 days for my alt to train it.
See what i mean guys pure bad attitude.

My opinion:
There are two communities that use these forums: 1, People exchanging ideas, building community, making friends 2, Forum PvP
Just like in-game intereaction you can't always tell who you're dealing with until it's too late.

Way to stereotype. I've known some 11 year olds that were more mature than most adults.
You're right about the general bad attitude though. No doubt people see the responses and are afraid to make a post themselves.

The only time I seem to have a bad attitude ( this is reflection on myself, which shows aot towards my character, i.e. I can admit when I am wrong ), is when somebody feels they are better then myself and basicly attack me for having a different view then them.
See the discussion about the Open Source Client, or Direct X 10, to see what I mean by people basicly treating other people like crude, what else can I do besides go into the corner and growl?

The answer is simple. You see these forums are far more brutal than ANY other I've been to, for any topic, organization or game for that matter.
I think these forums are a direct result of the in game atmosphere and the type of people who don't just play Eve, but thrive in this game setting. Eve is a very cold and unforgiving place. Eve as a game is very cold and unforgiving. From the moment the tutorial births you into the game world, it's sink or swim.
These forums are the love child of that backstory/in game relationship. Here you'll be eaten alive quicker than in game and I wouldn't change it for anything. _____________________________________________________________________ "My once immaculate white pants are now stained from the weak and innocent. There's something about all forums that brings that out in people, but it is especially bad on this one. It seems that for many regulars here, if their reply didn't unnecessarily flame, troll, insult and declare to the world that they're in a bad mood about the zit on their forehead, they just didn't put enough effort into it.

The wisdom of Redpants is quiet true (Not being sarcastic, just think this is a funny way to say QFE. I mean "the wisdom of Redpants," where the hell else am I going to be able to say something so comical.)
Anyways, yeah I am a BIG troll and I mean a BIG troll. If you see a MMORPG/Game discussion forum, I probably am on it. Eve has some of the most aggressive boards I have ever seen (there have been more aggressive game boards, I can't remember them now though).
I definitely think it has to do with the ruthless nature of Eve and therefor is not really that bad of a thing in my opinion. Hell SWG's boards compared to Eve's boards were a love fest, except with regard to the Devs. Eve forum posters wont flame the CCP devs as hard as we used to flame SOE devs and nor should you guys really. Hell you SOB's have steak compared to what the rest of the MMORPG community have suffered in a MMORPG.

QFT. People talk no different here than they do in game (besides the filtered profanity) and do so from the perspective of their in-game character (not roleplay , just the personality they assume the instant they log in)
These forums are an extension of the Eve playground , a scene that lets virtual personalities clash publicly. Conflict is fun in game , so it is no surprise that people look for it here as well. Of course , some people take the game too seriously and treat criticism or sarcasm as an offense to their person , violently defending themselves without regard to good taste or decency , and the boredom they bring to others.
The key to enjoying the game is to take things in the second degree. Learn to appreciate violent displays and forum comedy. If you can't , go back to WoW

We always need more people like yourself posting. Some people are young and immature.
There are also those who think everything they say or believe in is right and no one else can possibly have a valid view if it does not agree with them.
The latter kind will argue you back and forth with no real point to the discussion except to disagree with you and twist your words and take them out of context and find meanings in them that you did not write.
It is a lot like the real word but with the invulnerability of anonymous identities these people will just badmouth you all day.
I say take it all with a pinch of salt and enjoy the sunshine

It's the internet. Most if not all forums are like this if not worse. Eve forums started out better than most, but now the average intelligence level has dropped and it's over-moderated. It's still better than most.

Yeah, there are no repercussions on the internet, and a 13 year old kid having his brain ravaged by hormones and mass media has the same face as a 40 year old man with a phd in political science. Only the kid will claim to be an IT professional...

One of the things that sticks in my craw on gaming forums is someone taking the time to berate someone for asking a much-asked question... when it would take less time to just type the answer to said question.
An even simpler way would be to hit the "back" button on the browser and just ignore the question.
The anonymity of the Internet brings out the petulant toddler in everyone, unfortunately.
