I use to have no beef with the Russians now i cant solo play any more. If i do next thing i know i have a cap or a super cap sitting on my face . I usually do not bother any one i might mess with the industrialists kill there cyno alt every now and again but i do not greaf them all the time. Every one is like do some thing about it what is one person who pves solo and pvps ever now and again suppose to do about it ? So again i ask does solo play actually exist any more? And is eve really worth playing any more for a solo player?

Yes. You just need to find an area of space where you can carve out a niche. Low-sec is notoriously hard on solo players, however.

To me being solo sounds like a lot more serious limitation than for example being an Alpha. Not that I say it's bad. Limitations create challenge, and challenge creates fun.
And since EvE only has the win-conditions you set for yourself, being logged in and trying to achieve them already fulfills a definition of 'playing'.
But if I wanted to nitpick, I'd question if the 'solo' part is fulfilled if you come to the forum and ask stuff from others. You are cheating! It would be only fair to stop reading immediately, and to close all your chat channels. Do it now!
Still here? It's a slippery slope, isn't it? Stop while you can, there are ugly things down at the bottom. Gettin' to know people, scheming, small-talk, backstabbery and cooperation for greater goals. Brr.
They say Alpha clones are only for trying stuff. I say it's just the Hard Mode.

Solo is possible but its harder than youd think and getting harder which is why most people say solo is dead. Everything in Eve, like in life, can generally be countered with N+1 and some groups are better at it than others. So the only options are to leave to a new area if you have pissed someone off or rise to the challenge. Sometimes I have found that just blue balling people bugs them way more than giving them content with a smirk on your face.
But once you get past a certain point of isk value in ships or make it so someone can bother what you do in Eve and they find out about it and they have that certain pitbull never let go mentality they will tend to hound you for a very long time. So good luck with this "issue".
Have you heard anything I've said?
You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?
That's right.
Had to end sometime.

CCP has taken the nerf bat to solo players over the last few years, with NPC tax hikes, greater bonuses for fleets, and the eventual deletion of POSes.

POS were never a solo activity. For starters, good luck finding one in a high-sec system since you needed a moon. And in low-sec they are too easily taken down because they don't have anywhere near the vulnerability and asset safety protection. As for NPC tax hikes - I'm not aware of any changes to NPC corporation taxes in the past few years ; station taxes were increased with the introduction of Citadels.
There has been lots of solo content introduced in the past few years: Marauders, Tactical Destroyers, Burner missions and quarterly events are just a few off the top of my head.

Have you considered moving into a wormhole?
I live in a C1 with a lowsec static. This means that every 24 hours I'm in a completely different part of New Eden. I imagine that would make it fairly difficult for anyone trying to track me, and because of the mass limitations on a C1, they can't even bring any big stuff to my home system.

So many people have made that assumption. Usually right before they get evicted. So how is J114905? |

I've made no effort to cover my tracks - I've even gone as far as publish the system number I live in on my blog. I'm fully aware that, like anyone in w-space, my hole is my own only until someone bigger comes along and decides that I have something they want. Which is why I make sure that I never have anything worth the hassle of bashing a large POS in a C1 sitting around in w-space.
My point is I don't know where I'm going to be tomorrow, which makes it very difficult for someone else to know where I'm going to be tomorrow.
If the OP is looking to shake some people following them around, w-space seems like it has something to offer. And unlike me, the OP could be far more nomadic if they wanted, flying a T3 with a mobile depot around, refitting on the fly.
You know, that actually sounds kinda cool...
Edit: And Vanaheim is working out quite nicely, thank you. Decent PI income to support my idiot losses. Most recently that would be discovering Ghost Sites for the first time (with my face) and getting ganked hauling fuel because I'm still training for T2 haulers.
If you like reading about low sec piracy or wormhole pvp, you might enjoy my blog.

I'm just now coming back to EvE after a longish hiatus, and honestly can't see any benefit to soloing, but that isn't a bad thing. After all almost every MMo now is solo centric and honestly it sucks.
My first priority after getting my bearings again is to find a fleet that is copacetic, otherwise I might as well be playing X2, I suggest anyone who is serious about the game to do the same. |

Any solo safety in SOV null exists, because groups of people engaged in activities that create that environment. You can't mine in peace without friendly PvP groups chasing out people that don't belong. It's a place designed for organizations, and poorly run organizations fail. There are opportunities for solo play outside the context of a corp or alliance, but you will always need to be adjusting your strategy and it will almost never be on your terms. |

Depends on what you mean by solo play. Being a explorer is mostly solo play but it's much easier when in a corp dedicated to that activity. I'd imagine the same is true for most other activities aswell. |

Nah, he was right. The C1 wormhole is really pretty safe for his home base and indeed makes it hard to track him. You're making out that this isn't the case when clearly it is and is a tactic used by loads of people.. not really sure why.
It's a bit like saying "everyone thinks they're a great driver, usually right before they crash". It does nothing to dispute the fact that driving is actually quite safe, as is a well managed C1 wormhole base.

People complain about solo, when the fact is solo is very doable and most of the people complaining just suck at it. I suck at solo pvp (which is why I don't even try) but I don't claim solo is dead bacuase I suck lol.
Can't link killboards here but go to zkillboard and look up the guy who comes to our space all the time, abkiller Outaman. witness his works then come tell me how solo is dead. |

most of the eve streams I've watched have been solo pvpers, there is a ton of solo pvp content you just have to accept that sometimes you get good fights, and sometimes you get blobbed.
as far as pve content goes almost all of it can be done solo. Mainly missing out on incursions and some high end wh stuff.
some people are overprotective and will drop often, can always try going to a different area depending on what you are trying to do.

Solo is entirely possible, but with the following general soft-caps:
-You will invariably be at a disadvantage against any group. -Some content will be very difficult, or risky, alone. -The larger and more capable your ship is at completing more difficult content, the greater the risk, exponentially.
Outside of HS, id say solo tops out in T3C, in terms of hull size. Solo content thus tops out, as sites you can complete with a T3C. Specifically because of cloaking and nullification. Un/fortunately, T3Cs are ridiculously formidable ships.
I think the same goes for solo pvp. BC/BS, will invariably get caught and destroyed by superior numbers.
Caveat: Black Ops ships may be an exception.

I would like to add to this statement in regards to BC/BS solo PVP based on my own opinion:
Getting caught and destroyed is not necessarily bad. In these times were the ISK flows in abundant streams some people in low gladly take on a gang solo in a BC/BS knowing they will die and don-¦t care they go down as long as they take as many as possible down with them. Other peole only care about the isk efficiency, so they don't care about loosing a BC if the ship killed more than it was worth, some people don-¦t care at all risking marauders where they know they will die etc etc. So solo pvp in bigger ships can be a fun challenge if you accept that you will die when you undock and see how long you live and how mny you take down with you.

In low sec, 'solo PVP' is a pretty relative. Consider these things: -Dual alt accounts. What may have looked like 'solo' was actually 1v1 vs. OP alt to finish you off. Not their problem, yours. -Roaming gangs, off course. -Gate camps, of course. -You can be hunter-stalker. But again, 'What may have looked like 'solo' was actually 1v1 vs. OP alt to finish you off.' Kind a version of station games. -But still many ways to be a merry trickster and have fun and make isk in low sec~! Takes some cunning and deviousness, that's all. But solo pvp-- shite all. PLEX two accounts, get in a fleet, or work it being stealthy. Not much in between. |

Only in a Pilgrim, so far as I can see.
Of course, as it stands, now, the Proteus is the default ganker, 1 on 1. Close range blasters, a massive tank... But, I am assured that's going away.
Maybe what we need to balance all of this stuff is to have logi's balanced for ANY rep system? Then people can play their races, and have a reasonable expectation of getting reps?
Just because you're Amarr does not mean, in a fleet engagement, that you would not expect some meta-gaming shield-tanked ships, and vice versa... |

Shield and Armor excel at different things. Just because armor gets used more for larger fleet engagements doesn't mean that Shield doesn't see any use or that it's imbalanced in favor of one or the other. |

Dunno about PvE but solo has always been do-able in PvP regardless of whether its null/LS/HS.
However in my case (fair old while ago) I found it quite limiting - even if you dual-box which isn't strictly speaking "solo".
You need to stop the target running & kill it. That rules out a lot of ships & skills. You can either bait or catch but ultimately you need to be both tackle and DPS.
Better off doing small gang stuff (<10) IMHO. At least there you get the chance to try different ships/roles/tactics.
YMMV of course. |
