Ah yes, those things make quite good news. And rightfully so, crowdsourcing through online games is an interesting concept. At the moment, we are still at the beginning, and those minigames aren't all that great yet, but I really think CCP should keep at it. They may really be on to something there. |

Participating in citizen science makes for some interesting conversations.
I'm in the running for a promotion at work and had an interview for the position this morning, when asked what I do in my "downtime" I mentioned that I participate in identifying patterns of protein distribution in human cells via one of my hobbies (Eve) and was looking forward to participating in the search for exo-planets through the same medium. My interview kind of went off topic from there with most of the remaining time being spent discussing how effective citizen science was at streamlining the analysis of data and the ramifications of it for scientific research.
The feedback I received from HR was that not only did I impress with my work related technical knowledge, I impressed with the use I make of my "downtime".
In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

then you find people that say: work is work and private life is private life and they aren't interconnected |

It's pretty amazing when your players have to rely on themselves for their own tools and wiki's and low paying courier contracts to get stuff done that eventually they are free labor on real life science
I tease! This is awesome and definitely a niche for CCP. Could say brilliant!

it's not what you would have done, but what they asked you :) i'm not criticizing you, it just came to my mind one friend of mine that subtained that the 2 things aren't interconnected.
imo they are and as an businessman i would keep working with me people that somehow think and have a vision of the world alike mine... but yea... personal opinions :D let's not go OT |

As it happens I'm in agreement with you.

When we as players can get an article published because of doing citizen science, then we and CCP rightfully deserved to be recognized, then we together can move on to even bigger projects! Can't wait for the next one to come out soon! |
