When finding new corporation player can only filter corporation languages by the officially supported ones. In real world there is way more languages than 6.
For non official language communities it would be huge help if new players could find corporations that speak their own language. For example there is around 4-8 corporation adverts that only accept or are focus for Finnish speaking players. Any idea how to find those? Well.. New player could join channel "suomi v2.1", but how would he find there? Or he could find the Discord "Suomi EVE" via few Finnish game community sites. If I would start EVE today I wouldn't find Finnish community. At least it would take huge time. So I'm really afraid we lose potential EVE players as they do not find others to play with. At least for many Finns it seems really important they can relax after work day and talk their native language in voice comms.
Really simple feature that would help a lot would be adding way to filter corporation adverts using any language there is or any language that is used in adverts. End result would be something like this illustration for the player looking for a corp. Of course for the corporation creating the advert should be similar options.
I don't see any reason why this feature couldn't be implemented. In contrast to non official help channels, I don't see similar problems with moderation or presuming CCP is affiliated with the content. |

I found Finnish corps with a quick Google search, in Canada.
I see what you're saying but you're exaggerating a lot. On your own you can find players of just about any group, it would be nice if every human language was in the corp finder but it's totally unnecessary. |

For sure you can find some using google. Knowing what to filter and what not is problematic. Also finding smaller ones is way harder. With your argument there is no need to have even the official languages in the search as it has no reason.
If you argument would be that list of all languages would clutter the view, that would have some grounds. For that reason the concept has only those the player has added and has button to add more.
Nearly not every new player uses google, forums or reddit to find corporations to join. Of course those are the easy case, but this feature is directly mostly for those that don't. Those that are only few days in game or might even want to make their own new corp and find others with same language to talk with.
For sure this isn't super huge problem. And yes Finnish community has worked on advertising in different places, so we could catch as many Finns as possible. I used Finnish as an example while I would believe this to be more problem elsewhere.
I don't personally see "unnecessary" as good enough argument as it clearly isn't that. I can accept that CCP doesn't see that there would be enough outcome to justify the development cost. E.g. presuming current languages are flags (bits in byte), adding unlimited number would require second table that would make the problem way bigger (and thus costlier). |

Please explain me how this helps you to filter down posts? You still need to search them with some keywords. Pointing google to that thread and using it is probably better than the in game tool any case.
My point is that while there is means to find players with this criteria, the in game tool could easily be extended to support more languages than current 6 without any meaningful negative effects. Not everyone understands to open forums to search for a corp. I didn't and it took me 4 times to stay in eve as I didn't find the people. Last time it was via real life friends.
This feature is directly to those that don't open the browser. |
