Original story
Quote: POSTOUVIN - The Society of Conscious thought has outlined full details of an inquest into the interstellar Kyonoke crisis, after revealing construction plans for a Keepstar class citadel that will serve as a base of operations for science teams working toward a resolution.
Speaking at a conference before the interstellar press, SoCT Elder Mentor Matshi Raish confirmed that the construction project ongoing in close proximity to the stricken RP4 Hemorphite processing facility in orbit of Postouvin's fourth planet will be completed in the coming weeks, and the assembled Keepstar will act as a focal point for inquest operations.
Clarifying the purpose of what has now been branded the "YC119 Kyonoke Inquest" Elder Raish told the press that "the objective of this inquest is not to place blame, but for the administrations of the four empires to come together with their brightest and best, in order to work on a rapid and direct solution to the ongoing crisis. Every moment matters, and teams from the Society have already commenced operations on board the partially finished structure.
"For reasons of operational security, the location of the RP4 facility and the construction project will not be revealed to independent pilots until construction has been finalized. However, efforts are ongoing to bring many independent capsuleers into the fold once the inquest is fully operational."
Elder Raish concluded the conference by offering his thanks to the administrations of the four empires, as well as the thousands of independent capsuleers who have stepped forward with offers of support and aid to assist with the ongoing crisis.

The whole Keepstar? Isn't it too large for such sort of Inquest? If I would plan a research facility I'd make it as small as possible. God helps only those, who prepare themselves.

It is good that they have acted so definitely to end this infection now. A keepstar does seem like overkill so perhaps it is for more than simply research. Or maybe that is less than required, I would not know.

Seconded. Yes please.
Edit:
... and although I really would rather that research on Kyonoke be done with a telescope it seems like this kind of thing might actually be necessary, now that we have so many more hot zones people with really stupid and/or awful intentions could theoretically breach.
Further edit:
Although laboratory containment seems like it might still be a work in progress. I hope the SOCT has something actually workable for that. |

Precisely.
Since this emergency arrived in Solitude, the district assembly of Eloise-Goins has been in permanent session, requiring all deputies to be available to expedite the legislation needed to support rescue efforts for our neighbours. I am pleased that we have able to effect significant funding to the crisis teams and ensure that vital supplies for the Federal and SoCT projects are given swift clearance through customs.
It's a tricky balance to enable swift freedom of movement from destinations across New Eden whilst maintaining the security necessary to prevent the pathogen's spread, or further terrorist attack. I'm rather proud of our local democracy and elected representatives of all parties.
Humanity has won its battle. Liberty now has a country.

The minmatars are known for packing their ships with amount of crew larger than any other Empire. Their ships die with same rate, but amount of casualties are greater. The same way with structures. If they are attacked or if Kyonoke will get breached, it will die anyway, just for bigger structures there will be more casualties.
You know what, I don't know why I even tell it to someone like you. Just fill the whole structures with minmatars, I don't care. Keep away from our personnel though.

One Keepstar is around 400 something titans stacked full of people if I'm not mistaken, so it is a strange choice if it will be only used for research. Same as building small continent for an inquest, that's just bizarre. |

A Fortizar in highsec isn't actually safe, though, sir (just ask the Order of Jamyl). Considering what they're researching and the potential costs if someone decides to blow up the research station and loot the Kyonoke speck, I'm a little glad they're going so far.
I hope they fit it well. |

"Only used for research" is a bit of a silly assumption. Staging, coordination of four different nations worth of contributions and research, actual primary research, etc etc etc. The uses offered by Keepstars are immense by themselves, without even taking into account the fact that this is the SoCT we're talking about.
It would in fact be quite accurate to consider it a drop in the sea for these entities.
Mercenary Coalition has our own Keepstar, multiple Sotiyos, Azbels, Fortizars, Astrahuses, etc etc and a good chunk of those are on one and the same grid freeported for New Eden's capsuleers to freely use in Basgerin. Think the SoCT can't dwarf us in every respect if they so chose to?
And again, because it bears repeating: If they're going to do research on the Kyonoke speck with actual samples present? The more defensible the structure, the better. |

I'm already wondering whose going to take the first shot at it though. And whether it will fall under CONCORD protection. If such is the case, I'll feel both better and worse in that regard.

Remember the new shield generators that the Empire released universe wide back in YC117, why not use those on a normal sub-structures?
