I'm back to EVE after a three year break, and the skins system is new to me.
I'm used to the veristic and depth adding EVE mechanic of "When it's destroyed, it stays destroyed." However, the item descriptions on the cosmetic skins seem to suggest they don't obey the same system.
How do they work? After you buy the skin, can you apply it continually to any ship you own (of the relevant class) or do they burn as easily as the rest of my fit?
Thanks.

Based on my experience, skin licences are bound to a character and can be applied to any ship of the proper type. I have a character with 2 Viators - 1 speed fit with hyperspatial rigs and the other cargo fit with cargohold expander rigs. I got a Guardians Gala skin for the Viator during the recent promotion and was able to apply it to both ships.
If a ship is destroyed, my character still has the license and can apply the skin to its replacement. |

Skin is yours forever even if you lose ship. To Apply / Re-Apply just go to the ALT-F fitting screen and look left side in skins tab for available options.

What you purchase, and afterwards activate, is a permanent license to use a particiular SKIN on a particular ship. Any ship you purchase of the same type can be outfitted with the SKIN. Since the activated license is bound to your character, you can reapply it an infinite number if times and cannot lose it. |

Be aware also, that there are a number of time-limited SKINs on the market. Typically, these are much cheaper and last 30 days. As with the permanent SKIN licenses, you don't lose them when dying, but they cease to work after a month (or whatever time limit applies).

Ho do you tell the difference which are permanent and which is time skin?
I been hording the skins afraid to use them because I though they were applied to one ship then gone if something happened to the ship

That's good to know, I am a lot more confident in getting them knowing that they are not just one use can of paint.

The item description clearly states their duration as time-limited (30 days) or permanent.
