Current prices show the syndicate cloaking device a few hundred mil more than the drone link augmentor. The only downside I can see when choosing to receive the cloaking device at the end of the arc is that you get faction standing with the Syndicate, not Gallente.
Any other disadvantages I'm not seeing? |

Do you need to go to LS or null to complete it? That's probably why no one does it.
I recently completed the Amarr Arc and the end choice was the same.
Amarr = HS 200mil isk implant Sansha = LS 400mil isk implant I stayed in HS because I'm too lazy to do otherwise and I'm not taking my paladin to LS.
Effort....it's always about effort. |

I believe the Syndicate cloak is also linked to Syndicate standings, not Gallente, so if you're in it to raise empire standings you end up with the DLA. |

Interestingly, there is no *requirement* to go to low-sec or null-sec. Yes, one of the story path branches allows you to do missions in low-sec. However, as far as I can tell, you can choose all high-sec arc paths, and still be given the option for the cloaking device.

Correct. If you want the cloaking device, you improve your Syndicate standings, not Gallente standings.
HOWEVER, that is the _only_ disadvantage I can see. Hoping someone here can spot something I missed. |

The low-sec path of Gallente eparc pays more and can be done by a frigate, thus less travep time, so they're pretty good choices. Not related to the topic though. |

I think it's a matter of roleplaying and how immersive the story is for you.
You get the DLA when you do the right thing, the cloaking device when you don't. If you pay attention to what the agent says, it's all written to make you feel bad for doing that to the kid if you go for the cloaking device. |

Any other disadvantages I'm not seeing? The Syndicate Cloaking Device is actually a Meta Level 6 Storyline module. Most Storyline modules are produced from Cosmos BPC's and a few modules are rewarded from Agents..
Storyline modules usually sell for very high prices because of material cost to manufacture them. Storyline modules usually have lower fitting requirements compared to Tech 2 modules but their attributes are just a bit better than Meta Level 1 modules.
Because of their poor attribute stats and the high cost of production, Storyline modules don't really move too well in Market. Course there's always exceptions to the rule and some Storyline modules will have excellent attribute stats and low fitting requirements.
Anyway, since you'd pretty much be getting the Syndicate Cloaking Device for free, any money gained from the sale would be pure profit. However just remember it might take some time to actually sell it.

"Make you feel bad" is the understatement of the century. I felt genuinely repulsed at the thought of taking the evil side after going through this epic arc for the first time.
I went through it a couple more times, but could never degrade myself to the point where I could have gotten the cloaking device instead. I'm just not greedy enough, I guess. Instead I'll always do the right thing and take the DLA. |

Don't shoot too many missile batteries in the gallente epic arc though or the final standings gain balances or is slightly worse than the syndicate standings losses you incur throughout the arc. |
