T2 weapons and ammunition have a few uses where they are better than T1 mostly sniping fleets and demolition often the advantage is less than the time it takes to reload.
Weapon upgrades , damage control, scrams and disrupters, propulsion mods you can use the T2 mods as an alpha.
Your opponent might raise the ante a bit with expensive implants or mods but who is losing the most isk/day expensive ship die just as quick to a blob of muggers.
There are tactical objectives where you might need to compete with the performance of an omega but generally those objectives are not solo objectives.

unless you are part of a corp "flying some frigates in nullsec" is a good way to loose yourself a lot of frigates.
if you are new, and interested in small ship pvp, then yes faction warfare is probably the best place to go.
yes small ship pvp does happen out in null, but it is the exception rather than the norm. |

Losing a lot of frigates is one of the best course of action I could suggest for this process... besides joining some newcomer-friendly and/or teaching corp who'll tell you -why- did you lose those frigates.
As a rule of thumb, if you catch yourself doing something mechanical that doesn't feel educational.. do something else.
Just my 0.02 ISK.
They say Alpha clones are only for trying stuff. I say it's just the Hard Mode.

Absolutely.
As everyone knows the forums are really EVE's endgame, and Alphas can use all forum features.

Completely depends on what you want EvE to be for you.
Want to have quick and simple fun in fast and cheap ships? - Join FacWar, RvB, BRAVE or HORDE and off you go!
Want to become an industry tycoon, market mogul or supercarrier pilot? - Well, that requires Omega status.
But even Omega-status can be obtained by ingame means, although that will be quite tedious for most beginners.
Every atom in our bodies was forged in the furnace of ancient stars - it's time we return home.

Silivar Karkun wrote: should climb to Omega soon, but what for? i practically do the same i used to do when i was subscribed, only difference was not being able to cloak or mount BC and BS class ships. no problem for me.
i wasnt even in T2 damage mods before Alpha, if you feel you dont get enough out of Meta4 try to save some money for Navy/Pirate modules.
Same here, I wasn't using any t2 neither(except exumers, I miss them) and I was very happy before I came down to alpha for the time being

One of the reasons many people struggle with EVE is people treat Assets like other games where you premium fit a ship with maybe a back up, maybe not. Where in EVE you pretty much asset build with full loss recovery perhaps hundreds of times.
Alpha actually makes EVE easier as playing within your means is forced on to you. You could afford to lose 20 Moa to the cost of one well fit Eagle. Part of the reason Sov is one big bada-boom followed by evac is people don't fly and stockpile long term asset recovery. You clone, your skills clone with you, your assets don't.
On the other side of the coin, there is the lesson of futility. You will never lay claim to anything of value in EVE as an Alpha clone. That could be said about a lot of Omega as well though. As such you are a weapon of destruction, not a tool of building. All you can do is take from others through infinite aggression. Some might see that as just damn fun. |

The one thing that makes Alpha better is that you are never the primary in medium to large fleet battles.
