BREAKING NEWS - MASSIVE DATA CORRUPTION REPORTED AT KYONOKE INQUEST CENTER - SABOTAGE SUSPECTED
Quote: POSTOUVIN - Additional security forces from the Society of Conscious Thought have arrived on scene at the H4-RP4 Kyonoke Inquest Center, after technicians reported massive amounts of data corruption earlier this afternoon.
Details of operations on board have remained incredibly scarce, however the Society has confirmed in a statement that a substantial amount of historical data from the R4P mining platform has been lost in what is believed to be a targeted digital attack.
The Scope's SoCT contacts have declined to comment further on the situation as a massive data recovery operation has commenced on board the Keepstar class citadel. A sizeable manhunt is rumoured to be ongoing on board the Inquest Center, with the breach suspected to have been committed locally in order to avoid trace.
The Scope has also learned of rumors that an unconfirmed number of security staff based on the inquest center's data storage decks which house its datacenters have been reported missing.
With independent capsuleers set to arrive in Postouvin over the course of the next 48 hours, round the clock security appears to have been doubled at the Inquest Center, with the Federation Navy providing thousands of autonomous enforcement drones for regular patrols on board.
Who could have done such a thing?..

Oh dear. It's almost as if jealously hoarding all the data in single repositories instead of sharing them with the cluster has some incredibly terrible drawbacks when it comes to security, recovery and verification of data veracity.
Who knew?
... seriously, no off-site backups? Really? This is the most basic safeguard anyone ever does. I don't think I even own any electronic device that doesn't do this by default, requiring actual opting out to become this vulnerable to data loss, corruption or theft. They actually had to go out of their way to get screwed like this. |

Purely anecdotal, but perhaps someone could clarify.
Approximately 10 hours ago, I made a brief sortie out of the FCORD logistics citadel toward the SoCT Keepstar. Using the camera drone for visual inspection of the Gallente Outpost structure at the RP4 mining platform, I noticed that the Gnosis class battlecruiser that was moored there was no longer present.

Again, perhaps I am mistaken.

There are essentially three options.
Firstly, FIO may have initially silenced the distress call on RP4 and sealed the station to prevent the spread of contagion, and they wanted to clear the RP4 data to conceal their handling of the Postouvin quarantine.
Secondly, A third party may have targeted Postouvin/RP4 data as a false flag, to put our attention in the direction of FIO without any actual FIO involvement in RP4.
Thirdly, the culprit may either have routed assets through RP4, or may have based from RP4, and needed to conceal data retrieved from the quarantine zone.
We lack data to determine which of these is accurate, but it remains strange that the RP4 quarantine began with a mass panic, and then with a silencing of its distress signal and declaration that the panic and distress signals were a hoax.
In coming days, we'll conduct such interviews as we're able to learn more about the situation.

Yeah, pretty much right on the money. I honestly wouldn't be too surprised at FIO trying to cover up something embarrassing. I hate the idea of federal intelligence being involved in something like this, but I also wouldn't put it past the extremists that run it nowadays.
That being said, while those first two options have the potential, if either is true, to be disruptive to the conference by creating unnecessary tensions, the third is a good deal more sinister and holds much darker implications. Any investigations should try to rule that out first. |

Xadiran, despite my personal antipathy toward Soter, I believe we share the desire to get to the heart of this matter and resolve it swiftly and effectively. While I personally am a State citizen, and IKAME is a State-aligned auxiliary, ARC is by intent and purpose multinational.
Let's do what we can to set aside antipathy to address our shared interests.
If we meet on H4-RP4, or if you meet other ARC associates or executives, let's shake hands.

Is aiding you contrary to the interests of the Federation? Yes, stopping the contagion is a priority and aiding causes seeking to do so laudable. But some wonder, you blame the FIO easy enough, when it might well have been you or yours, covering the actions of the State you serve.

Mr. Syagrius, our objective is to reach a resolution that is, explicitly, not against the interests of any contributing organization. We can't necessarily say any resolution will be for an organization, because I don't particularly wish any organization to profit from the suffering of humanity and suspected bioweapon attacks. What happens between general statements of ideal and the conclusion of what promises to be a dirty and chaotic marathon of politicking...? I can't even hazard a guess as to what will happen, and how it will play out.
As one of my mentors said, in that case, "You ride the edge of chaos."
Xadiran, I'll have to take your word on Soter. As to the rest, well, we'll run into each other at H4-RP4, I hope.
