I have a Ship Maintenance Array, Personal Hanger Array, and my Deep Space Transport. How can I put together the Prospect I carried out here? I was under the impression ships could be assembled in Fleet Hangers. Doesn't seem to be working. The option comes up in the cargo bay but that's too small.
How are ships assembled in space? |

I'm surprised nobody has posted an answer yet. For shame on all the regulars here. To be honest I'm not exactly sure since I belong to NPC corp and use NPC stations to manufacture stuff. I know very little about player Corp stuff.
According to my research you need to have an active POS anchored along with various types of Assembly Arrays to construct modules, ships, and other items. To build a ship there needs to be a Ship Assembly Array anchored inside the POS bubble within range (2500m?) of a Ship Maintenance Array in order to use the production lines. The Personal Hangar Array is designed for personal storage of materials, items and modules of moderate volume within the storage space.
Here's some info guides on the subject :

I'm not sure how up to date that info is or just exactly how long POS and Assembly Arrays will still be active in-game. I believe CCP has plans on eventually removing those from the game.
Anyway, good luck to you. Wish I could be more helpful.

The simple solution is to put up a citadel and dock :)
if you use a pos, then you need an online control tower, with an online ship maintenance array and an online ship assembly array of one kind or another.
You can put the unassembled ship in the assembly array from your cargo, assemble it and then drag it to the maintenance array to be able to board it etc. You can drag an assembled ship from the maintenance array into the assembly array and repackage it (I only tried this unfitted).
I used a large ship array to assemble a frigate, ie build restrictions don't appear to apply to assembly, so I presume t2 ship can assemble without an advanced array. |

I don't think he's talking about manufacturing ships, but fitting and refitting them out of station. In that case, a POS with certain modules will let you do that I think. Been a long time since I've used a POS, though.
You can drop an MDU to refit the ship you're in. As for unpacking and fitting a ship you are carrying inside another, no idea. I don't recall what restrictions there are on dropping ships ready for use and fitting from another ship's SMA, or if you even can, but if you could, then once more the MDU will allow you to change the fit after the fact at will.
