What about that creepy machine intelligence that piggybacked on the former amarrian empress? The one the drifters showed up and zapped on live feed? That would qualify in my book as pretty alien.
I think there is a lot of interesting alien like behaviour that could easily come from those types of artificial intelligences like we see with the rogue drones, as people have brought up in the thread. Some of the thinking they could present would be downright terrifying. |

There are already aliens in eve. We play as them. We are not native to this area of the galaxy. In fact our home world is so far away it has been lost to time. On top of that we play as a class of people who have transcended mortality, and wield power and wealth on a scale barely comprehensible to baselines.
Whatever we once where, capsuleers are no longer human. |

According to DNA testing, nope! Still human!
Just some really bigheaded humans due to all that power that was put in their hands.

Guys, guys.... Guys listen... Guys, how about we have aliens in game but they aren't organic aliens but an advanced machine race. Timeless, unbounded by distance, drifting forever among the voids, the result of aeons of machine evolution in deep space.

You realise that rogue drones exist, right? We don't need fricking Reapers when there's already a race of machines that are evolving beyond their programming and in a very different direction than what their creators originally envisioned.

Ok you're right. They're humans with some martial art/chiropractic skill and a little sci-fi ESP thing thrown in, along with the funny haircut and ears.

Yeah go on then, let's expand on the rogue drones and have them invade regions or something like that. Or have drone agents so you can build standing and buy from their LP store. I'm sure there's plenty of things CCP could do with rogue drones.

Agreed that it's about time for the rogue drones to stir up trouble. You would think that a machine race that has infested one region very thoroughly and has presence everywhere in the cluster would start making more frequent incursions necessitating constant effort to cull their numbers before they really run amok.

I prefer the Red Dwarf approach. No aliens, just humans, modified humans, and scary things created by humans.

On a more serious note, I don't think aliens would bring anything to Eve, so please, no aliens.

I appreciate the effort but these jokes work better against the minmatar.
Example: Just look at the minmatar... Alien enough for me! *all my minmatar slaves nervously laugh and nod in agreement*

Which implies that there aren't worlds where the Minmatar keep Amarrian slaves, purely as revenge even though culturally it was never really Minmatar style. As well as schismatic, isolated Amarr groups whose slaves have taken over and the populations have mixed to make a group distinct and foreign to both. Indeed. As for aliens, deep time is a terrible inhibitor on sci-fi based conflict stories. Two lifeforms meeting and being within millions of years of each other in development or evolution is akin to a razor thrown into the ocean drifting to the bottom and landing edge-on against another.
Goggles. Making me look good. Making you look good.
