Well, ever since the abortive attempt at using EVE to fund a couple other games, they seem to have pretty much left captains quarters alone. I've only seen a few new cosmetics since then? If there's anything new, they haven't pushed it much. |

Captains quarters are leftovers from an abandoned project called walking in stations. Probability the feature will be added to citadels is close to zero. We have the outside view instead. I expect them to leave it alone as long as new features don't break it. If it ever does need modification to work with new features it will probably be disabled. |

I was listening to a podcast the other day with one of the ccp devs (can't remember off the top of my head which) but they where asked about further iteration on walking in stations, and their response was "it is something we very much would like to do, but it is very low priority, but we do hope to get back to it one day" so probably not anytime soon, but I also don't see them just scrapping it completely given how much money they spent on it. |

I wasn't aware CCP had any plans for the captains quarters. Would be interesting if CCP Quant could provide some stats about how many players actually use the feature.
As far as their investment in the feature - don't get trapped in the sunk cost fallacy. Past investment does not justify new investment. The new investment needs to be justified by the value it delivers. |

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

Yes, thats why in the interview he was very clear that while they WANT to do something with it, they aren't going to touch it until they feel it would be worth the time and effort to iterate on. But the fact that they still want to do something with it makes it unlikely they will ever throw it out completely. besides, how else are they going to keep selling us new pants and boots. |

Unfortunately, no captain dorms have little chance to see pants and boots. |

Does anyone even use Captains quaters? It seems like the biggest waste of resources from CCP's side. Its one of those ideas you come up with at the bar.
" Hey wouldnt it be cool if we could walk in stations?"
"Yea man, totally. " snorts coke
Then you spend millions developing the concept and when its done and have taken the first walk realise it isnt interesting at all. |

Eve online is free to play now and they mentioned that many players login just to chat with other players.
Maybe now is the right time to add some features into "walking in stations" |

Maybe now is the right time to add some features into "walking in stations" I wonder what that could require for bandwidth. Some station out in the boonies with 0-5 people would be empty, or just have flavor NPCs. Pointless.
And Jita 4-4 would probably be a madhouse. Tidi in stations?
But it's a massive task regardless. A huge lobby system, with things to do besides just wandering around. A massive amount of modeling. All for what payoff, exactly? Something besides "it would be neat"? |

Yes they should add Captains Quarters to structures.
And they should allow us to invite other players into our CQs, at the very least.
Next they need to give us a place to socialize with others players at the station.

There is nothing inherently wrong with captains quarters or walking in stations, technology has improved, and probably wouldn't melt graphics cards in an impersonation of a nuclear meltdown any more.
So long as CCP can keep it very seperate from a naked cash grab this time, most players are unaware of those times long past, and those who are old enough probably get upset at their neighbours playing loud music and letting their dogs walk on their grass, so they have enough to keep them distracted,
If CCP decide to do it, they have enough experience, and an amazing art team to make it work. But it really needs to have extra resources and staff available, if the core game is not to languish, otherwise history may well repeat itself, and a bulk order of monuments will need to be ordered.
If the alpha project is successful, and there are new players flooding into HS, then finances may become available to make being in station more engaging, but the real interest of EVE is in space, and they have some work with some HS mechanics, if they are to actually benefit from keeping new and old players there. Not a lot of point doing anything when they are being driven out of game as fast as they are brought in, and whilst prettier and more interesting station environments might make wardecs more bearable, they don't put food on the table, engaged, happy excited players in space do that. |
