Evening all,
How often does CCP give a player back their ship when the topic title happens?
Happened to me just now and I'm curious.
EDIT:
Odd thing was my ship didn't warp away. |

Happened to me just now and I'm curious.. It depends on if there were anything wrong on their end. If CCP's logs show nothing they won't reimburse.

The thread title says you were blown up by a player, that is combat.
When you exit the game, by logging off or crashing out, you get a log off timer of 60secs. If before or during that 60s another player shoots you the log off timer extends to 15 minutes. It can be extended indefinately even though you are no longer playing the game.
Good luck with your reimbursement ticket.

When you log off in space without using the safe log off feature, your name disappears from local almost immediately. So if another player was cloaked watching you hack and noticed you disappear from local chat but your ship was still in space, he would know that your ship was defenseless and easy to blow up. |

^ This is correct. Regardless of weapons timer your ship will attempt to warp away to wait out log off timer. If you're scrammed you will not warp however.

Good info so far I just want to comment on a few things posted by others.
Zeke Harthura wrote:Never Not true. And yet as a general statement there is a lot of truth here. CCP handles ship replacement requests on a case by case basis and yes they will on rare occasions replace a ship lost in combat with other players. Because we want you to stay around and keep playing I suggest that you do not hold your breath waiting for it to happen.
Archibald Thistlewaite III wrote:It won't warp away if you were in combat. Doesn't matter if it was another player or NPCs, consensual or non-consensual combat. Not true, if you DC for any reason while engaged with NPC your ship will safe warp unless those NPC have you scrammed or disrupted. If you are engaged in combat with both NPC AND another player or players you will not safe warp because of the combat with the other players.
In the end OP the best thing to do is file the request for reimbursement of your ship, the worst they can do is refuse. |

There's actually some complexity to how this works - though the underlying rules are fairly straightforward. If you DC, the server doesn't take any action at all for 4:15 (which is 255 seconds - the TTL of a ping packet). It takes that long for it to declare you disconnected and log you off. At that point you'll safe warp away. If disrupted or scrammed, you won't warp away until the aggression timer runs out (15 min for PvP, 5 min for PvE - but further incoming aggression no longer continues to restart the timer after the server declares you logged off). If not pointed or scrammed, then you safe warp regardless of aggression timer once the ping times out.
In the OP's case, he would stay on field after a DC for 4:15 while the server waited for the ping to timeout. That's almost certainly when he was caught.
I tested the DC behavior extensively and wrote a detailed forum post with my findings. |

CCP will replace ships in certain circumstances
if you can prove it's on their end they will usually replace your ship if you shared the game logs for the data they might replace the ship note might
I've had a few friends have lost their ships and they were able to get them replaced because of a bug |

also to be noted that when losing connexion, you are considered disconnected after 4min. someone has the time to warp in and point you. |

CCP will reimburse ships depending on how you word the petition, "i was too drunk and couldn't solo them" doesn't work...
however depends if it was a game issue or not but they may just reimburse it anyway.

If you were in low security, null security, or wormhole space, chances are you got engaged and your ship met a violent end with you not at the controls. File a ticket and CCP will figure out the best course of action.

Just thought I'd say they have yet to reply, so I'm guessing they are really busy or the answer is no. |

We are discussing the act of your ship safe warping, we are not discussing your account being logged off. The two are completely separate actions and they are governed by different sets of rules.
If you DC and you are not scrammed or disrupted your ship will safe warp at the first server tick after your DC, so at most there is a 1 second delay between DC and your ship making it's one and only attempt to safe warp. Even if it responds and safe warps your account will not be logged off until all applicable timers have expired. How do I know this is true, trust me if your internet connection was as terrible as mine you would be intimately familiar with this process as well but here are just a few examples.
I was in small fleet running missions with other members of the coop, one of them had a DC caused by a client crash, his ship safe warped at the same moment he started complaining on Team Speak about his client crashing.
Several occasions while running missions with my son and talking to him on the phone my internet connection has dropped out causing a DC, yet he reports that my ship safe warped at the same moment I started complaining about my internet dropping out.
Several of my mission ships only have about 90 seconds capacitor with everything running. On multiple occasions while flying missions solo in those ships I have DC'ed with everything running and yet when I reconnect the status of the shields, armor, hull and capacitor are exactly the same as they were at the moment of the disconnect.
I could go on but suffice it to say that personal experiences tell me that this 255 second delay between DC and safe warp does not exist. |
