If they were another DPS ship fitted to counter your ship, would you have a chance solo anyway. There are issues with ECM sure, but there are some counter measures and it's not what kills small gang play. |

Jams don't stop you warping, nor do they stop you burning to gates, they don't turn tanks off, they don't deal damage directly and +1 isn't blobbing, especially if the pilot was always visible in local, and at a point in the game they actually combined eccm and sebo, which makes the module counter much easier to fit than it was a few years ago.
It is also a force multiplier that can allow smaller gangs to defeat larger gangs, and a force multiplier that easily allows one to configure to fight particularly effectively against gangs that have uniform make ups or known type of logi ships.
My last enyo was lost to a hitherto hidden arazu webbing me off a cynabal when the frigate gang I was in had put the cynabal into structure, and I'm perfectly fine with that, and it points out that all sorts of unaccounted for ships, not just jams will turn a fight.
Baiting people into fights is a big part of making them happen at all. |

Which doesn't stop you orbiting a gate riding out the pathetic dps of a jam frigate until your aggression drops and you can escape. Or did you get baited into taking the fight where the pilot wanted you to fight ? |

OP doesn't know that perma-jamming really was a thing once and it's now gone. OP doesn't understand that ECM tears are the very finest, most poignantly delicious of all tears, because you can fit against ECM but nobody ever does. OP seems to think solo pvp is meaningful and not at all a weird, perverted thing indulged in by twisted idiots.

Imo, the problem w ecm is that it cant really (in most cases) be countered by maneuvering like most other ewar. Damps, you can try to close range. Td's you can close or reduce transversal. Neuts you can pull range (against most.) ECM, you either come prefit w eccm or you have a good chance of losing your ship. Would be nice to see ecm maybe work at shorter ranges or maybe activate at the end of the cycle like an armor rep, just to make ecm ships a little more vulnerable. And just nuke ecm drones. The rest of the ewar drones suck but ecm still gives you a dice roll for 100% immunity. Pretty garbage system, always has been.

ECM at the end of the cycle? No no no no no no. Hint: ECM ships sacrifice all tank since jam mods take your mids, jam amps your lows and there are the jam rigs too. All of which you need to reliably jam people. A Falcon is effectively dead if you miss your jams, and now you want the falcon to start the fight at such a ridiculously massive disadvantage? |

#1. It is ALWAYS a mistake to post on a forum emotionally after an in game loss. It's whining and it doesn't help you.
#2. I notice from your kill mail that you didn't have one single Auto-Targeting missile in that Caracal you lost. It's also a mistake to play the game poorly, not use the tools you already have, and then come to the forums to complain.
#3. ECM or not you weren't going to survive against all that stuff anyway.
You aren't alone in your reaction, but that reaction is wrong. This is not to say that criticism of ECM mechanics shouldn't happen, just that it shouldn't happen right after your explode lol. Use what the game gives, learn to beat ECMing ships, and then have a discussion about it.
This is what I wrote in another such "I died, PVP sucks" thread, it might be helpful here.

Anything you can do, can be countered.
ECM is only a problem because it's a binary result to a random chance. When they try to jam you, it works every time. When you try to use jammers, they never work.
If ECM was actually overpowered, everyone would use it.

It's worse than what you portray. Think about it as the victim instead of the perpetrator. I lost a Raven to a single lone Jackdaw. I was even fit with light or medium missile launchers, which would have hit him. I NEVER GOT A SINGLE SHOT OFF, NOT EVEN ONE. I was perma-jammed, perma-scrammed, and perma-webbed the entire time.
I wasn't allowed to do ANYTHING except just sit there. Nothing else. |

Let me show you how. This was the 1st part.
This was the second part.
Did you know that even when you are jammed, Auto Target missiles work AND if you put drones out then fire auto-target missiles, the drones aggro too....so you can sick drones on the guy scramming you even when jammed!??
for the life of me I don't know why it's easier to complain on the forum than it is to learn the game. Keeping a stack of 5-600 Auto Target missiles on a missile ship is not hard to do at all. |

Where it up to meGäó I would take the same mechanics used for bombs and just let ships fire in "dummy mode" meaning all projectiles, beams, and missiles, just fire in the same vector as the direction of the ship.
This would allow players to do more than just sit and wait to die and permajammers better have tackle to keep their target from turning on them.
Plus strafing would be epic in large fights.
