284 TL / 12 plex / 3.9 eur/tl = a wee bit over 6 eur / plex, which just sounds wrong, it sounds way too cheap. Sounds like steam was giving you a local currency deal, I wouldn't be surprised if steam was losing money on that transaction and they figured it out when they redid the pricing. 816 TL / 12 plex / 3.9 eur/TL is 17 eur/plex which sounds like the right price, and what other people were/are paying.

TR = Turkish Lira? I guess you have to blame the Turkish speaking German Players that figured out how to pay Steam in Lira. Earn Euro, spend Lira (or rossijskij rubl in other cases) is a nice deal. Local prices for online gods are hard to protect and when those local prices get abused from the outside the players those prices were supposed to be for get the short end.

Similar situation happened to the other game I played some time ago. Funcom had a deal with the publisher to sell subscription for half the money they got from the rest of the europe, Russia had the same deal. I dont think it was a mistake of some kind. But they removed the deals when the game went f2p.

PLEX is likely to continue to go up do to the following.
1.Smaller chunks, like a stock split, make it more affordable and an attractive investment. 2. You can use PLEX to buy vanity items and ship skins directly with no AUR conversion. 3. PLEX has always trended up long term with only short, small downturns. 4. More Alphas in the game mean X% will convert to Omega - ie ~ there's more people buying it.

Love the stock market and economical take. Agree with all of this. The demand on individual PLEX is much higher now and the old classic supply:demand thing. (Less are buying PLEX with RL dollars) So I'm saying Eve is dying I guess
Totally kidding!~
I really think the change is much better - The former Aurum/PLEX was dumb and overly complicated. My only two wishes is that they called PLEX something else after the split, and that the PLEX vault was instead in the wallet instead of every single inventory window.

I don't know what did they think but GM said it was a marketing decision! What the? When somebody change the price %300 in 1 day it's not normal and it's way tooooo expensive for TR than EU and US countries. So our currency not good right now if they want to protect their customers in TR they have to do something about that prices.Otherwise no body guna pay 68 TL for one month subs.It was 25 in steam and it was ok.Also when you earn with $ and Gé¼ 19 is no big deal but for Turkey it's expensive... |

Stock splits usually reduce the price. If you have say 100 shares with a price of $100 and the stock splits, you have 200 shares at $50. Note that in both cases the total value of the stock is the same $10,000 which would represents the firms market capitalization. Now, the reason for the stock split could be that the stock was increasing in value, but the split itself should have little to no effect on the price. It is very much like taking a $100 bill and getting two $50 bills.

Actually my money have nearly identical exchange rate with Euro as Turkish money. I would say exactly the same thing as you because we have even similar wages here, maybe a little better. But I use PLEX bought for ISK from beginning, not counting the two month game time code I had to bought first, to play the game past trial.

Stock splits usually reduce the price. If you have say 100 shares with a price of $100 and the stock splits (say 2:1, a common split ratio), you have 200 shares at $50. Note that in both cases the total value of the stock is the same $10,000 which would represents the firms market capitalization. You are correct that the total value remains the same and in the short term can actually cause the total price to drop. Long term though everything else being equal (depending on market factors, company finances and other honestly more topical factors) prices generally rise when a lower entry cost is involved. Todays stock market with spiders or similar investment tools make it a tough comparison, I am attempting to be simplistic.
In short though the PLEX split of 500:1 makes it more likely people will pick up the smaller chunks as speculators, game time users or for EvE Store purchases than they did in the past which will likely drive prices up due to it's decreased entry fee.
