Dravos, unless you posted the link somewhere else as well, those forums are probably the worst place to ask. People who visit forums, prefer forums over the game :3

i wanted to ragequit every week of my first six months. i don't believe masochist is a personality type, or even trait, it seems to me masochism is a valid pattern of behaviour in an environment that treats you in a consistently shoddy manner. Masochism allows a person to give meaning to that ill-treatment and to derive a sense of self from it. Then after about a year of diving into the worst possible situations, competency and confidence start to build. Suffering becomes less important and achievement takes it's place. Only then can losses really sting. Bittervet status is reached when you don't care anymore and deride those who do, or when you can only enjoy ruining the enjoyment of others. This is differentiated from toxic kiddie status by the way the attitude is arrived at and expressed. Coming up to 8 years now, still not bitter, still not GudGäó@eve.
Goggles. Making me look good. Making you look good.

No. The only activity I have enjoyed were incursions - till the fleets implemented automated queue facilities where one can spend a hour or two waiting for a spot in strictly 40-men fleet.
So I'm waiting for CCP to discover ~10 years old technology of scaling public quests where people may join and leave at any moment without affecting each others' rewards. |

Somtimes. Especially in the beginning EVE felt like work and unfun for me. Burned out a few times, took half year breaks. Then my corp left the FW meatgrinder (The attrition wars are real), joined a bigger pirate alliance where there are different kinds of fleets every night and now I just play approx one-two hours a day joining the strat op or random fleet. Right now I actually enjoy playing. I have learned to focus more on the social aspekts of EVE, communicating with people, instead of trying to be best of anyting.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

As an overall experience, I enjoy Eve greatly. I like the community and the rule sets (mostly the ones that make care bears cry). Even when I go on breaks from logging into the game, I still end up reading/watching stuff to keep up on it. Eve is a daily part of my life, even though I might go a week without logging in.
Playing Eve is slightly different. That part i find I can put down easily. After a good PvP roam I find that I want to keep playing, even if it's doing some PvE. But if I don't have much PvP happening, I tend to drift away from logging in as often. PvE in Eve is unremarkable- it's pretty much the same as any MMO (a big mob grind, maybe a 'boss' at the end).
It's nice that Eve offers more content though. I spent a couple months just roaming around in an Astero doing exploration. Dipped a toe in Incursions. Even considered putting together boosting ships and helping new players do higher level content. I've written a piece about how I play Eve (one character, one account), so this game extends beyond being logged in for me.
What I enjoy is not having to log in. Real time training is brilliant, and I can put the game down for a bit and when I come back- I can usually do a whole new thing. Eve doesn't feel like a chore, or worse second job. With a couple billion in the bank and an SRP, I don't even have much to spend isk on. I don't care about trying to plex my account, so I never feel like I HAVE to log in or that I am somehow slacking for going outside instead of grinding at some internet game. It's crazy how central Eve is to my daily life, yet I can remain so totally casual about actually having to do it. |

My view is biased, I have been here so long now I have pretty much done everything, I read the forums more than I play to keep upto date, will log in now and then, play some market pvp but don't done much undocking in a good old while.
but I have been playing since 2003, so i think it's understandable that I may be slightly less thrilled at playing than I used to be. |

I enjoyed it extensively for about 5 years. That's pretty long for a game, especially an MMO. The last year I have not played very much, I'm a bit burned out. |

indeed. However, coming back out of semi-retirement, I am finding it amusing to watch all the e-honor wankers that destroyed the game are gone and yet the ones that liked the cold dark harsh part of the game is still here. |

EvE is fine most of the time, 'cause it's one of very few hardcore MMOs these days. It has history, it has community, it has lore. But when it comes to actually doing something in EvE - it becomes boring quite soon. EvE lack few little things:
1. Some activity to let players "hang around" - chat and meet space like "walking in stations", minigames and other things to relax from farming and killing each other.
2. Some procedural generated PvE events across New Eden - as i said in other thread - to make cluster look more unpredictable and "alive".
