With the new skill system in the pipe, ie. duel skilling & cue'ing up. I wonder if say u could have the ability to trade your sp that u have no need for, like u have battlecruiser lvl5 but never fly them anymore so u hit the cash in button and get 1/2 of the total sp to use up on skills that u want. I mean the sp has been earned and there would be a penalty - but hey why not? Regards Craig Ankers Former COO - Si-Fi Si-Fi Website

There is no such thing as unneeded skill points. Just because you don't fly a BC now doesn't mean you wont in the future. Even more so I would guess you have trained command ships. Well that takes BC to 5 so allowing you to remove those points and put them elsewhere while still being allowed in a CS would be absurd.

I like the idea tbh, and yes the is such a thing as un-needed skillpoints I have an Ammar char(cos I like hoods ) but I trained pure Minmatar so there is a few little things I would like to wipe from my skill sheet as I will NEVER use lasers for pew pew thats one thing I am certain of.

This could enable players to either queue skills so that when one level finishes the next level in that skill starts training automatically, or another preset skill starts training automatically. Dual training would enable you to have a primary long-term skill in training with a secondary short-term skill sharing the training time. After a level in the secondary skill has trained, the primary skill trains at full speed again.
The Drawing Board
To the OP, I disagree. Whilst I can see the benefits of your proposal I think that you should stand by your decisions. Any skills you don't want, inherited from birth so to speak can be irritating to see on your skill list but that's just aesthetics.

Never say never. The only way to guarantee you will NEVER use lasers is to quit eve. The big concern is people doing what I mentioned. Training up BC 5 for example then CS and back tracking BC 5 for extra undeed sp.

Next day: I'm short on cash. I'll max out my social skills and run missions!
Next day: Missions are boring. Time to max out trading and make boat loads!
Next day: Rigs are so overpriced. I've got all these salvage materials, so I'll max out every rig construction skill and build my own!
Baaaaad idea.

Scraqp and Symb Everway have said it better than I could ... that would be a real Pandora's Box, full of nasty after-effects ...
The skill system is good as it is, IMHO, it forces us (the players) to think when we train our skills, and using one's brain is always a good thing ...
IIRC that "skill queuing/dual training" idea has been on the Drawing Board for almost a year ... nothing new there, and definitively not "in the pipe" ... if you hold your breath waiting for that, you'll turn very blue indeed ...
Basically, I find the "harshness" of the skill system in eVe to be a real good thing, I've grown bored of those MMOs where everything is spoon-fed to you ... in this game, you need brainpower to make the right decisions regarding your character's skills and what you want to do with them, it's hard, unforgiving, but GOOD.

If they even added it I doubt i would use it, but in your example, I'd hope people would be stupid enough to do that. Per the OP , you loose 1/2 the SP you 'cash in' , so if they took out 5mil SP, they would get 2.5, then when they cashed out again, from 2.5 they would only get 1.25mil SP, etc etc. You would loose Months of training time pretty fast if you swapped whole skill trees like that.

good IDea, one problem. You could from char creation get a Perception/Willpower character, learning things 3 times faster than your charisma skills. You could easily abuse this by dropping down say, torp 5 to torp 4, and spending those points on leadership. Then re-training torp and doing it over again. Even though you loose 1/2 you would still be gaining because you have WAY more perception/willpower than anything else..
Especially when you add in implants and the no longer need to invest time into learning skills for whatever stats your just going to feed with the above method saving a month of training and beyond.
