Since combat goes shield, reinforcement, armor, reinforcement, structure, destruction there should be "kill" mail created for every phase of Upwell structure combat. If structure loses its shields after attack there should be structure shield "kill" mail created.
Removing shields has not actually "killed" the structure why should you get a kill mail?
Destroying the armor has not actually killed the structure so again why should you get a kill mail?
We do we get kill mails for removing the shields / armor of the ships we shoot, so why should you get one for doing these things to a structure?
MikhemBenefits for these "kill" mails would be:
- Great conflict drivers.
- Would allow use bounty against attackers.
- More (exciting?) stuff to share in EVE chat.
- Hunter hunted.
- edit: Would allow attackers leadership pay salary to attackers for successful attack.
So much here that simply makes no sense.
Conflict - People have a need / desire to kill a structure so they do. Or they do not in which case they do not shoot the structure and I seriously doubt these new "kill" mails will change that so I do not see them as conflict drivers.
Bounty - Bounties are worthless in this game and your idea is not going to change that. Besides you can already bounty anyone that even looks at or flies past your structure so how does this idea change any of that?
More exciting stuff to share - Oh I can just see it now all the players spending hours recounting the kill mail they got for taking down the shields on a structure. All of the players I know don't even talk much about the last ship they killed, I really do not see them wasting time recounting the last shields the manage to remove from a structure.
Leaders paying salary - unlikely to happen but then if the leaders are aware of what is going on in their corp they already know who showed up to the shield / armor / structure bash anyway so how would this change anything?
Suren Scott wrote:The most valuable use of this would be easier tracking of who participated in the initial stages against a structure. Some corps are going on 2 hour ops to hit multiple structures, and so some people show up for 4 out of 7 structures, the first half or the last half or they needed a break in the middle. These ops often split up if timers overlap. FCs have better things to do than take roll call to give out brownie points.
I like the basic idea here of the game tracking who shot at the structure and it would nice to have such a list.
NO to using a kill mail for this purpose.
