Right now I'm running a trial account, I've had it for 3 days now, and I'm impressed with EVE and all, but i want to wait til the trial's up to decide on whether or nor ro stay with it. My problem is that I tried to log on on a different computer than usual, cause i'm in a different place than usual for the weekend, and whenever i do, it tells me "We appreciate your enthusiasm for EVE. We'd also appreciate it if you'd limit yourself to one trial account" or something. Am I not allowed to run a trial account on 2 computers? If so, why not?

I think you can only have one running at the same time - did you leave the other one logged in?

i *think* its because once you run a payed-for account on an Eve client, it sets a flag somewhere in Eve or windows registry which prevents the Eve client on that PC from running any trial accounts.
It's a measure to prevent people useing trial accounts for scouting etc, or exploiting. -

Edited by: Caligulus on 19/05/2007 20:41:26 Well, there's a little bit of a gap in information here.
Is the account your running in the new location a different trial account or the "same" one? Or is it the same account on a different computer at a different location? Is there another trial account active on this computer?

Good go at it but that is not correct. The real goal is to prevent people form using multiple trial accounts at the same time.

It would be set in the EVE server and probably linked to a client ID, the registry is offline.

I have the same problem. I was able to run my Eve trial once under crossover but then everytime I tried to log in when running eve under crossover it said there was a version already running on my computer. Restarts and deleting the cashe have had no effect.

It is quite clear to me that CCP has installed some version of ad-ware to check for this. No doubt everytime you try to run a trial account your credit card details and email addresses are forwarded to Russian mafia sponsored spam groups.

Originally by: John Matthais Could it be because I'm using Crossover on a Mac here? Do I need to either wait for the game to come to Mac or upgrade the account?
No, I'd file a bug report with both companies.
