In response to the comments above about repairing structures from inside the shield...
If you are inside the shield you cannot lock anything. You need to lock something to remote rep it.
Think it through...

i hope we will see new co-processors and reactor control mods for pos, so we can fitt more guns with rising fuel over 100% of existing lvl.

Wasn't a discussion, it was something for the devs to read and learn from. Hope they saw it before you nuked it.
Same. Let me reword my questions as well as quote the orignal blog to show they relate.
"In order to achieve that we have made the following change to starbase structures; once these structures receive 0.1% damage to hull they come incapacitated, or simply go offline.
Balancing hit-points will make sure that smaller ships can take down the shield, armor and 0.1% hull, but for a fleet of capitals it will take quite a while to destroy the structures, making this effort not worth the time - but rather incapacitating the structures and then destroying the tower - as it will be the tower that gives the massive hull boost to the structures."
Wouldn't this lead to module spamming and actually take longer to destroy a POS? I understand the scenarios in which you are working with, IE, do not make structures outside of the POS to easy to kill. However, what if when the POS is destroyed all anchored structures are automatically destroyed as well? This would reduce the hours of boredom from shooting both a POS AND structures that have a ton of structure HP. It's kinda like shooting a giant secure can, just takes forever and not very much fun.
"the maximum number a dreadnought can target is reduced to two - this is to prevent avoiding the long locking time of smaller sentries by locking 10 at a time. "
Can we get some clarification on this? This seems to be a very harsh nerf, would this only apply to starbase structures?

Here's more information on sovereignty;
- It takes a lot of time and effort to get higher sovereignty; you don't want to lose it half-way
- There are more things than just outpost upgrades that require sovereignty; new structures such as jump gate, scan array, cyno jammer/generator
- Constellation Sovereignty gives even more benefits; less fuel req for starbases for example
- Highest level of sovereignty gives temp invulnerability to outpost and starbases; forcing constellation sovereignty to be contested
Forgive me if I have this wrong and if I do, feel free to clarify this but you seem to be saying that because we now have structures on the outside of a POS, it will allow smaller ships, either in or out of a Dread blob, to participate in taking them out. The flaw in this is that the guns will insta-pop anything smaller than a Dread, especially now that you can manually target/focus fire the POS guns.
If this is the case, the fact that theoretically speaking they can shoot the modules outside becomes moot because they'll die before they get a shot off. Unless either you have omitted to tell us or I'm simply unnable to find the section you do tell us in, you need to address this before tactical warfare becomes an option.

Hmmm..... I see a lot of deathstar POS's simply being switched into Spongestar POS's with this change. Why anyone would still equip turrets to their POS that aren't taking down the Dreads (presumably, since they're still attacking), can't hit small ships and aren't protected by the forcefield......thats beyond me.
And whats that about carriers? Fighters warp with them now? Does that mean the end of assigning fighters to gang-mates? --------

as it will be the tower that gives the massive hull boost to the structures.
Minor suggestion, but it might be better to have the tower give a big chunk of hull resists instead (or more likely a mixture of the two).
I can see people doing more hull damage than needed just to knock out the structures, in order to slow down any repair efforts. If remote hull reps are going to be similar to normal hull reppers in their poor "repair amount/second", then I foresee a lot of people being very bored remotely repairing structures for far longer than they were under attack for.
With a hull resists boost from the tower, it's not so bad.
Of course, push the resists factor too high, and they become too easy to repair....
I don't envy the balancing job ahead of you!

If you read the threads (there's a bunch of them, and I'm not sure which one), you'll see that POS takedown has been done successfully (albeit very slowly) by battleship/cruiser gangs. So the non-caps are not getting instapopped. ------ Agony Unleashed is recruiting. |

I have taken down multiple large towers on tranquility with battleship and smaller ships as they were anchoring and onlining without guns, amd let me tell you, it is anything but fun.

It just doesn't make sense... you want to put the things outside the shields and disable them when they take hull damage, but you don't want dreads to "melt" them instantly and allow smaller ships to help. Um... why not just use the dreads to melt them to hull to make them stop shooting and continue on as before? I guess you could say that players could repair them and the smaller ships could combat that healing.
It still doesn't make a lot of sense, though. Putting the things outside the shields and the changes seem to make it easier to disable the weapons of a POS and, moreso, make this easily done via DDD or remote DDD (if not removed by then), or multiples of them, to 'soften it up' before sending any ships there to even start the siege.
All signs seem to point to enabling BoB to take territory easier and faster.

Ok, so you guys are doing a starbase revamp and not even bothering to fix the current bugs with industrial related starbases. These bugs have caused me and my alliance to file close to 50 petitions, all the same bugs, and all that can be replicated.
Why can't CCP work on fixing these things at the same time? Why do they ignore the industrial issues and focus on the PvP aspects. Sure, go nuts, do what you want for PvP'ers, but when POS's have been bugged for the past 6-9 months with the exact same bugs, and not revisited since, some of us are gonna be damned annoyed when you talk of a POS overhaul and choose redesigning content that works rather than fixing things that don't.
Call this a rant, I don't care, but I hate seeing CCP cater for one and only group whilst claiming this game is for all genre's.
* Copying via alliance tab - 100% of the time this results in stuck copies requiring a petition to retrieve. We file approximately 10-15 petitions a week for this.
* BPO's/BPC's go missing if a station rental expires. Requires a petition to return those bpo's and bpc's. We usually have 1-2 every fortnight who do this and need to petition over it.
* Copies done by alliance members that are bugged in the POS, cause me (the POS owner) to not be able to unanchor my structures, as it says that they aren't empty when none of my hangars have anything in them. At this point in time, I have a large tower servicing 2 mobile labs, and am looking forward to a 2 week petition to resolve. Only petitioning once so far.
* Invention is shown as available to alliance members through the mobile laboratories, but is impossible due to the inability to put goods into the mother-corp's mobile corporate hangar. No petition required, but pointless showing the ability when it cannot be done.
So, the above I have only listed a fraction of the current bugs with the POS system, that is actually causing your GM's more work due to tons of petitions being filed. Now I hate filing for these kinds of things, but considering it has gone on for over 6 months now, I am getting fed up, much like your GM's would be, having to tend to this over and over again. Can you guys not look at fixing these important issues at the same time as revisiting your war related POS's, because I am worried you will not revisit POS's again, and we will be doomed to endure bugs for another 6-12 months.
Please don't slide this under the carpet, I really want a response as every other request I make on this subject gets ignored.

I'm well aware a BS gang can do this. I was part of fleets shooting POS before Dreads where introduced. It takes a lot of BS but that was before you where able to control POS weaponary. Now you can just focus fire and you'll be able to easily take down a BS fleet before it can put you into reinforced.
Moving Guns to the outside of the shield will not stop this.

Skip the moons and the POSes... Let ppl fight over the planets. Add Troop Transports and let corp/alliances invade planets. Each Troop Transport could take so and so many troops and you need to have more than the guy defending has to win sov.
Troops could cost salory each month... making it more expensive for corps/alliances to claim systems = more pilots needed, more taxes, more teamwork and LESS POS-spamming.
Planets you really want to defend could have huge amounts of troops on them, making it necessary for your oponent to bring huge amounts of Troop Transports/troops... Well, you get the picture... POSes should only be for mining, building, research and stuff, and maybe some other operations...
My 2 cents :P -----====-----

CCP thank you for these awesome changes. 0.0 was never to be a place where players homes where to be removed.
I think these changes will bring us back to pvp for the sake of blowing ships up. Not ruining peoples fun by making them move away to another region. The issue will now be with finding cloak ships and living in a space forever that empire will become barren and no fun.
With complexes and roids being variable and such, EVE will evolve into the space game I started playing in 2003. I knew you would finally bring back ownership to not the meanest property owners but the ones that supply the greatest benefits to thier residents.
